Do any of you switch to this at times? I see it only is a 4% hit on realism. I am in 42 out of Brest and the last 2 patrols had me going off the coast of Halifax. Took about a month of game time to make it over there and back with limited fuel. Was on fumes both times when I made it back.
I think next time I will change the fuel setting if I have to go over there again. Took about 8 hours real time to complete that patrol. |

I've never played with unlimited fuel.
I'd rather finish my patrol in open waters, surfaced, (virtually) in wait for a milchkow to reach my location. BTW, are you usuing reduced speed and alternating between diesel and batteries to extend your maximum travel limits? |

I used it in the very beginning when uncertain about myself but not since. Never had any trouble with running out of fuel either. My last two patrols also took me to Halifax area: 11 weeks there and back, approx. 25% fuel left back at base. Then again, this was in IXB, so...

Going ahead slow all the way there and back. Did this twice, just takes forever to get there and back.

Never used unlimited fuel. A normal patrol for me usually only takes about a week anyway, so I always have lots of fuel left upon returning.
There are too many convoys in this game (even when using RUb 1.43)! ![]() ![]() Oh, and I normally go to my patrol grid at ahead full (XXI). Never did many patrols with the IX boats though, as I suspect I'd be sent too far away then. |

Fuel husbandry is part of the whole patrol. Just ask my Chief when we go alles voraus at a convoy. He hates wasting fuel so much, that we're not allowed to sink a tanker

Never use unlimited fuel either-or unlimited anything else, for that matter.
