Just found this and thought it might be helpful to my fellow nubs:

This is a very basic explanation of the concept of a submarine periscope and attack. It won't teach you how to intercept, manually target, blow sanitaries, or any of that... it just gives you the "big picture" of what's going on before you dive into the details and get lost.
