Default 5 things absolutely needed for SHV (My wishlist)

1. Code optimization, You would be amazed at how well an complex and graphic intensive Sim can run on a mid level machine if the code is worked and finessed. An example is IL2 series of Sims. They have some great coders who can get the most out of the least requirements without sacraficing eye candy.
An example of bad coding would be SHIV! Rushed, slapped together, full of memory leaks etc. The type IX u-boat gets half the frame rates of any other sub in the Sim. Another example is console games. They look great and run on 1/3rd the hardware. Its all about optimization!

2. Physics. The boat (All boats) and water interaction should be realistic. They should have mass, weight and buoyancy. All objects interaction should be realistic. If want to set my boat on the bottom, I should be able to do that, Just not in a full throttle crash dive!

3. Wolfpacks, Rudeltaktik or what ever you want to call it. It adds a whole realistic dimension to convoy attacks. They would wait until nightfall when their silhouettes were small and approach on the surface and do a joint attack. The results were utter chaos. Otto Kretchmer “The destroyers are at their wit’s end. Shooting off star shells the whole time to comfort themselves and each other.” If a U-boat was zeroed in on and driven under another would attack on the other side of the convoy while yet another in the front and yet another in the rear! Wolfpacks had a devastating effect on the convoy system and it threw the escorts into disarray.

4. Realistic reports from BDU who should actually be directing the wolfpacks. Also FW-200 recon planes to shadow convoys and attempt bombings as was done in reality. I want BDU to direct the wolfpack from creating the net (North to south pattern of U-boats 40 to 60 miles part across shipping lanes usually 7 to 10 boats) to leading the attack and reporting locations and ETA's of other boats coming in to the attack.

5. Realistic effects, Swimming crew waiving their arms, Guys diving off the merchant ships into the icy water and making their way to a box or a life raft. AA gunners that drop to the deck if hit. War is brutal and this isn't no Disney sim.

7: One of the biggest problems in SH4 was the poor implementation of aircraft. This needs to be fixed, badly!

Pardon my backseat moderation, but I believe that when a poster starts a thread on five specific suggestions, then the thread should be about those five suggestions. We have several "Spam your SH5 suggestions here!" threads already.

What else can be said?

"I agree because x"?
"I don't agree because y"?

There is only so much meaningful discussion that hasn't been said in other threads.

I understand your consternation. It is difficult to see so much speculation over so little fact, but be sure that things will get much worse once the game is released, regardless of its condition.

Speculation and wishful thinking is great but if only 10% of what has been wished for so far is forthcoming, I doubt very many of us will have the rig that is powerful enough to run the game.

Stability and as bug free as possible should be the minimum expectation then patches/updates and modders efforts will probably move it on to greater heights.....as has happened so often in the past.

Of course I'd like more than the above, but wouldn't we all.
