I've installed 1.5 version on my SH4, but it appears that the career mode sets it's own realistic setting depending on the difficulty i've set, without checking the gameplay setting i've put in the options menu. This may be something small, but i actually prefer to have a manual aim for the torpedos, but not to have limited batteries or fuel etc. None of the difficulty options in the career mode sets it like the way i want so i'm asking if there is a way to fix this? I think in the previous version there was no such problem.
P.S. How does the new speed meter calculates the ships speed because i find it quite unaccurate some times. |

Welcome to subsim and congradulations on the number one asked question
![]() While in your 'office' look to the left, you may have to pan the camera around a bit. On your left atop the shelf is a radio, click on that ![]()

thanks steam wake
![]() For the speed measure i probably didn't asked the question right. On the basis of what does the game measure the speed of the vessel? Distance, angle, lenght of the ship etc.? |

Well quite honestly the game knows with absolute certintay the speed of the vessel but that would not be very realistic.
If you have autotargeting on and you 'lock' a target check the position keeper in the scope or Uzo and it will tell you the targets speed. If you have manual targeting it is quite another matter and can become a fascinating study in target motion analisys. There are a number of well written guides (see stickys at top of forum). It boils down to taking a couple of fixes measuring the time and distance between those fixes. (Pencil, ruler, stopwatch). As to map contacts and contacts called out by your crew there are thre catagorys Roughly speaking as follows Stationary = 0 knots ... duh Slow= 1 to 5 knots Medium= 5 to 10 knots Fast=9 to 20 some knots all depends a task force typically travels at around 12=15 knots. Very Fast= Its an aircraft get the hell down ![]()
