Default Hard to get back to SH4

My computer is fine, so performance is not the issue (E8500, 4GB DDr2, HD4890), but my old adversary stuttering greeted me right from the get go. 50-60 fps and the boat "jumps" forward every couple of seconds. It does not when i record at 30 fps with fraps.

In addition I get this:

Has this been solved in any way? Workaround?

This has happend to me in the past with SH3 but not SH4. There is many things that could be the problem here. You could have to many programs running in the background that may be causing lag in your system. Try shutting down a few unnecessary programs with ctrl+alt+del before starting sh4. Other problems could be a mod conflict of sorts. reinstall the game with a fresh install of the the uboat expansion after that apply your mods. But C if the problem still exsist without the mods first. the last thing I can think of is a agp graphic card conflict. Somtimes sh3 and sh4 just go a little crazy with older AGP graphic cards, but with a newer system like yours you probably have a pc express card so don't worry about that one..Well that's all I can think of I hope something helps.. you usually can't go wrong with a fresh reinstall...just back up your saved games first..

I had this bug too few times (playing SH4).
It`s random "noideawhyit`shappening" bug, maybe it has something to do with alt tabbing or something else, it just pop in randomly.

I`m solving this with surfacing saving game and reloading... like most small bugs in this game.

Thanks, guys. Yeah, it was probably alt+tab that caused the crew under water, I did that to see if running the game on one core would cure the stutter.

Btw, the stutter is not caused by background processes, it happens at steady fps for no apparent reason, and ONLY in SH4. I run other demanding games like Empire: Total War maxed out with no issues, I just dont understand this. The install is fresh on a freshly defragged HD on a recently installed XP Pro SP3 with latest drivers and updates, loaded with Operation Monsun.

Anyway, I have had this before - lowering settings doesnt do anything other that raise fps well beyond 100 - and it might be what made me uninstall SH4 ages ago.

Thats a tough one to nail down, do you run an Nvidia or ATI type video card solution. Could be something in the video card settings with a Nvidia solution I run a profile specific to SH4, there is a stickied thread on setting up and it might have your problem in there, best of luck.

when my game stutters, it is because I left my internet on, I have a wireless setup and it stutters when I leave my card in. when I pull it out it smooths out

The responsible for this is to press ALT + TAB during the campaign.
