hi played this game over a year ago and have been giving it another go, playing in caraer mode i was on my way to search the area given to me in my mission when i spotted a warship, i reported this and was given an order to attack, i lined myself up getting excited about a possible kill when it all turned to horror, the voice in the sub says warship spotted, then another then another, eventually there was at least ten warships and a couple of merchants, far too much for me to try and take on. i think i need to escape but i am slap bang in the middle of their path, by now if i surface they will see and chase me, submerged i will be too slow to get out of their way so i decide to dive as deep as i can and stop with silent mode enabled hoping they will simply pass over me.
this doesnt happen, i hear the pings with about five destroyers hovering over me i hear the depth charges enter the water, i hear explosions, some near some far but each bang seems to get closer so i decide i have to move, still in silence i set my course for where the convoy came from and set speed to 1/3. the destroyers above seem to know my every move and after a while of trying to run silent i set my speed to flank, by this time the main convoy has well passed, just these five or six destroyers determined to get me, which of course eventually they do. can anyone please offer advise on how i would get out of this situation in future cheers Gav |

That's the situation we all pray for...you don't want to get out, you want to get in a good position and attack.....then you can go deep and escape.
Never pass up Capital ships....Lockwood better not hear about it. Do a search "escaping destroyers" should give some info, but basics are You can go much deeper than default deep, just be careful...but 500ft is easy in most subs. Gato you can usually go 600ft. If you have damage, scale that way back. Keep a narrow profile. When a DD passes over, that's when you want to go flank, usually the charges will fall behind. When they're pinging, they can't hear you so that's time to take off. Time to go silent is when they stop and listen. If you're playing stock, use your decoys. Overall, you want to head away in one direction, but make many small turns. But do your job Sailor.......... |

I was given orders to patrol within 108 nm of area abandon. On my way there, I received a message: Enemy Task Force: Heading NNE; Speed: Fast. Well, it was on my way... So I turned west on an intercept course. Radar on, I got a signal. 2 Kongo BB's. 1 Ise BB 1 Fuso BB 2 Chitose Sea Plane Carriers 3 Tako Heavy Cruisers 3 Nana Light Cruisers 8 DD's of various classes. As soon as I had a complete reading, I turned NW at flank speed with 4 DD's in hot persuit. (36 knts) When I have the opportunity, I turn west and dive to 350 ft. At 350, I order ahead slow. (1 knt.) The DD's usually come close but eventually head east. As soon as I hear their pings start to fade, I order up to 60 ft. By this time, the BB's are pretty close. Within 2500 yards. I have found out that with them doing 15 knts, at 340 degrees, this is a good angle to shoot from. Long story short, I sank 2 Tongo BB's, and 1 Ise BB for 100,000 tons. Turning south under the convoy, I dive to 380 ft and order ahead slow. I have 6 DD's on my "you know what". Trying to evade... If I survive, the heck with patroling area Abandon, I'm making it for home. |

That Fuso BB was an accident. Before I dove trying to evade, I was able to fire my last 2 aft "fish".
One hit, one missed. A little while later, I got the message that the Fuso sunk. I must have got a "lucky" hit in. |
