Default Captains Room

Okay what program do you use to open the .sim extension for that Captain's room. I want to redecorate my office.

S3d didn't seem to open it. I need to open the file with a program I can edit it with or convert to a file in which I can open and edit it and then convert it back.

Use S3D (Silent 3ditor) to open the .dat file, open the 2. node Captain Room and everything is there. You can open the 3D preview window and zoom in to see it. All the objects have a 3D model and some items are grouped together, some are not. You can export the 3D model to work on it in a 3D program and then import back into S3D. Or if it is something simple you can change some pictures in the Texture folder. The 3D model will tell you the material or .tga or .dds file that is associated with it. For example the map on the wall can be changed in the Texture folder but it is a selection from a .dds file in the texture folder that is placed on a 3D object as a material.

And you may be doing something wrong because S3D will open the .sim file, it just isn't the one you want if you are going to remodel, although you need to keep the links connected for stuff to work.
