I believe it refers to the double type IPA style, as described here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/India_p...India_Pale_Ale

I think it has the necessary statistics to qualify as one ABV and IBU-wise.

Women tend to drink the weaker strength IPA's.....the stronger ones resemble wines in their flavours (Barley being an example).

Edit: Just read the link put up by PD

Pretty much sums it up

It wasn't quite barley wine, but definitely stronger than your average IPA. Mmmm IPA.

And I don't know any women who like even the weaker IPAs Jim. Must not hang out with the right ones. Or maybe it's ****ty beer being so prolific in these United States.

Don't hang out with any women at my age...the wife wouldn't allow it

What I meant was....traditionally/during my early teens, women would sit in the lounge or the snug area of a bar and drink what was known at the time as a ladies/females drink.

These days the buggas drink more than most men

The best are the Imperial versions, bar none.

I love a good IPA

This is my usual beer when I am back home in Canada.

Still brewed in the same building for the whole 189 years they have made the brand.
