Default Stadimeter/Range Issue (TMO 1.7)

I am only getting about half the correct range when using my stadimeter.

1. Lock the target
2, Identify and check rec manual (using automated target ID to do this)
3. Activate Stadimeter and pull down until water line of ghost ship touches tallest mast of target ship and left click.
4. Then click red triangle to send to TDC

By using my map (with the 1500 yard) circle chart and sonar to verify, my ranges are always 1/2 what they should be. (ie..1200 yards show up as 600ish when using the stadimeter)

Any thought or suggestions if I am doing something wrong or is it a software issue?

If you don't click on the check box in the rec manual (even if you ID the target via a hot key or button), your target mast height will not be set correctly. Automated target ID only tells you which ship you're looking at ... it doesn't change the mast height.

Make sure you actually LOOK at the manual. In TMO the reference point on the ships is different than in stock. It's not always going to be the top of the mast. In fact, it rarely is. Most are at the top of the tallest funnel. The reference point will be marked with a red line in the manual.

No DANG wonder my speed calculations and ranges have been off!!!! I was using the stopwatch, 3 minute run, and protractor thing and getting the speed but it never matched up with my speed calculation from the tool in the top right periscope view.

Thanks guys!!!! I never even took notice of the red lines in the TMO 1.7 Rec Manual. Now my ranges and speeds are dead on. This site rocks!!!!!

I'm getting to be a better Skipper everyday.
