Crew Management

I’ve been thinking about to crew management issue and was wondering if a MOD could be created which would allow for easier assignments. The idea is to establish a watch system as is used in real life. A watch consists of a balanced proportion of the crew necessary for maneuvering and general evolutions during routine cruising. For major evolutions “all hands� can be called and every crewman will have an assigned station. When “action stations� are called different stations could be assigned, with weapons and damage control taking priority.

Below is an example (British):


Time Name
0001 – 0400 Middle Watch
0400 – 0800 Morning Watch
0800 – 1200 Forenoon Watch
1200- 1600 Afternoon Watch
1600 – 1800 First Dog Watch
1800 – 2000 Last Dog
2000- 0001 First Watch



The above table can also split into starboard and port watches.

If it could be automatically initiated at the appropriate times with a message stating which watch is assigned, the management problem isn’t a problem. Also “all hands� & “action stations� should be left to the discretion of the commanding officer.


Is any of this practical and/or possible?

As far as I know, there is no provision for automated watch rotation, thus the general interest in fatigue modifications.
