Default [REL]Slightly Subnuclear G7a Type I

Having successfully found and once used the Scheisshaus on my U-Boat (I won't go into what happened when I got confused with the valves the first time), I discovered a little-known secret of the war.

In 1943, the U-300 was patrolling the Caribbean and came upon an unguarded USS Blowfish, stopped to give the crew a swim. So many of the American crew were in the water that the U-300 was able to surface beside and board the Blowfish with very little resistance. Killing the entire crew aboard and machine gunning the swimmers in the water, the Germans took control of the Blowfish, finding a Slightly Subnuclear Mark 14. They transferred it to the U-300, quietly scuttled the Blowfish and skedaddled back to Germany.

A couple of months later the Slightly Subnuclear G7a Type I was born. Packing between 5,000 and 100,000 hitpoints of pure destruction, this is guaranteed to put some fun back in the old U-Boat again.

Installs with JSGME, works with any mod combination, comes with no warranty, makes a big bang.

Yes, I ruined the Pacific. Killing the Atlantic seems only natural.

Nope, I purposely covered only the G7a. I may also mod the G7e Type III Falke as well but haven't decided yet. This way you can have normal and Slightly Subnuclear weapons on board at the same time.

I make no changes to the U-Boat at all, by the way. This is not an Uber-Boat mod, just some advanced weapons research.

OK it might change the torpedo explosion strengths or possibly modified speeds in Operation Monsun but it will work fine with it. This mod is based on the torpedoes in the stock game. It is compatible insofar as it will not break the mod and both Operation Monsun campaign modes and Slightly Subnuclear G7a Type I will work perfectly together virtually without harm to your computer, Windows, your sanity (that's a basket case already). SH4 won't crash and will perform "normally" whatever that is.

No warranties come with this mod. Small children and cute puppies were grievously harmed it the production of this debacle. Use at your own risk. If realism is your game, this breaks it. Hey, it's only a bucket of ones and zeroes anyway.

RR

The reason for the incompatibility are the changes required to support the SMA mines and the SWA39a torpedo warheads in OM. The node ID's are not going to match between the .dat and .zon / .sim and "may" cause a CTD for the user. I recommend that you open up the .sim & .zon in OM with S3D and compare them with the ones in your mod and you will see what I'm talking about.

Maybe I should engineer a separate version for Op Monsun then. Last thing I want to do is cause problems for Op Monsun users. When alternatives appear people will realize how good Op Monsun is! Everyone play attention to what Lurker says. He's a MUCH more advanced modder than I am.

Default Ill take it out for a spin

will try with type VIIs....

maybe that way Ill finally see a ship sinking (in the atlantic)...

will try to document the engagements

and soon you´ll hear "torpedo achtung.....loss! "

life is good (yet wet!!!, too rainy down here!)

EDIT:
made a patrol out of kiel.... type 7a only...
11 aug 1940
torp 1: premature
torp 2: missed ahead
torp 3: kill

14 aug 1940
torp 1: premature
torp 2: kill

RTB when fuel ran low.
2 kills for 10,000 tons... one torp each
had no problems with the game CTD

the Op Monsun is just great!!!, and yes, I might be a fan of it!!! someday there will be alternatives, but respect is given for the job done to date, the 1.5 patch lives in the atlantic only thanks to Lurkers opus

and remember to look out for the RAF!!!

My belief is that when alternatives appear, Op Monsun will show itself well. Some seem to think that there should be one standard configuration. I think that's the way to stagnation and mediocrity. Two or more supermods are necessary for a healthy modding environment, and competition is good for the competitors. The attitude of "squash the opposition" is just plain silly. Coopetition makes everybody better.

Even if my mod doesn't cause CTDs with Op Monsun, he's added elements not present in the stock files I work with. Not finding the added nodes could be a problem, so handle with care until I release the Op Monsun version.

look on brightside, you don't have to throw out 4 torpedos to sink one mid sized freighter.

Out of curiosity, how many hitpoints do various ship classes have? Is there a list online or some tool I can obtain to browse through the game files?
