Default Court ruling confirms Dorset village’s name ‘is pronounced scrotum’

http://www.newsbiscuit.com/2009/04/1...otum%E2%80%99/

hahahaha fantastic!

Quote:
After months of wrangling between life-long villagers and affluent newcomers, a High Court judge has ruled that the name of the tiny Dorset village of Schroatham should correctly be pronounced ’scrotum’.
/SNIP
Finally, after considerable research, the judge’s decision was swayed by evidence uncovered by historians showing that the town was named in the 10th Century, after the Anglo-Saxon word Shkoot’m, meaning ‘ball-bag’
spoof news is great.

If my village was called "Scrotum" I would fight to the death to keep it that way.

Some years back I discovered that the famous Silverstone racetrack is located in Towcester County. I was surprised to be told, when I asked a local online, that it is indeed pronounced "Toaster".

I feel sorry for garbage men there.

"So what do you do?"

"Oh I'm a garbage man in Scrotum"

"So you keep Scrotum clean?"

Coming from NorthYorkshire, I refuse to pronounce the letter 'H' at the start
of any word and shorten any letters after 'T'.

'elp t's big 'orse in 'ouse, 'ow 'd t' grr-in 'ere?

and such forth.
