Default Scene.dat and GWX3

Hi to all,

What I miss of GWX3 if I use the stock scene.dat instead of GWX's ?

I mean, if I miss only moon, sun textures.... I may use the stock's to have the clouds back. ...But, if I miss surface night ability, AI visual ability in night/day and so on.. I would like use GWX scene.dat tweaked in those stock scene.dat parameters to have defenetively the clouds back!!

please..... heeeelp meeeeeee.....

thanks!

The "3"

Okay, seriously, what's all this I've been reading about missing clouds? Got a screenshot?

ah!ah! funny!

No, I haven't a screenshot, anyway the sky is just clear and the waves reflect the blue of the sky. Even if the meteo report says overcast. I only have fog or rain or haze but not clouds at all, nor overcast, neither partial.

it's weird, because if I use the stock scene.dat everything is fine!

Please list mods and hardware. Especially graphics card details.

Hi,

the mods installed in GWX2.1 are:

Thomsen's Sound V3
Thomsen no instant death screen
interior diving
aircraft soundmod
GWX2.1 minor fix 26thApril
GWX - lite harbour traffic
lifeboats&debris V4

Anyway, the problem is also in SH3+GWX3 installation without any mod engaged (I'm waiting to finish GWX2.1 campaign before using GWX3).

The harware is:
Intel T2250 1.73GHz Duo
RAM 2Gb
Video card: Mobile Intel GMA 945, 256MB memory, updated to latest drivers
Operating System: Vista Home Premium, SP1

Thanks

So you have a clean GWX3 installation in which you see no clouds even without the 16km mod enabled?

Is it your conclusion..? Your posts put me in suspance... I was thinking I was getting close to the solution...!!

However, the difference should be between the stock and GWX scene.dat, probably in those parameters that control clouds behaviour/resolution/appearance..

We need a guy who knows very well that file!

thanks anyway for your attempt!

Edit.
I compared the two files by using S3D.

at the node 44 there are clouds parameters. The stock 3D model (subnode 39) has 2 UV Map channels, instead the only one Map channel in the GWX version. Can be it the difference?? Maybe my video card wants that second channel... I don't know!
The other things related to clouds parameters seem the same..

Be aware if you copy the subnode 39 you are back to a 8km clouddome, it's not a problem if you don't use a 16km mod.

Ok, thanks for your advice, luckly I don't use the 16km due to my video card limitations... I have 6-8 fps in external views!

Hi, I made some times ago.. so I don't remember well..

probably I did so:

I used S3D program (you find it here: http://sh4.skwas.net/)

1. with S3D I opened stock and GWX's scene.dat

2. in left menů tree the Node39 was localized, and copied.

3. open GWX scene.dat

4. delete GWX's node 39 and replace it with the copied one.

5. save all.. and hope it might work!

IMPORTANT: always make a copy of your files that you are going to modify!!
