I'm after an out of game model viewer ie being able to view the textured model to help with skinning some ships is this possible and what would I need to do this ?

Thanks in advance

Tools for unpacking the OBJ files from the DAT.
Tools for loading the OBJ for 3d view.
Tools for editing DDS files.

I have the following:

1) 3dEditor - Use this to unpack the model files from the relevant DAT files.

2) Deep Exploration - Use to load the OBJ files and for viewing the model.

3) Photoshop + DDS plugin - used to create/edit the texture files.

I use DeepX to view my changes in realtime while using Photoshop. Having DeepX open, with the model & texture loaded, while editing the same texture in Photoshop means that as soon as I save in PS, DeepX is updated.

The only program that is free is 3dEditor. You should have some idea now.

I'm seriously asking myself where everybody finds the money to buy this progam, it is expensive as a**

Gimp is an open source alternative and quite sufficient for texturing needs (ok, I can't really compare as the last photoshop version I've seen in action was 6.something ).

Yes, it is a little expensive but when your RL job involves it's use (and the remainder of the Master Suite) you get the company you work for to pay.

GIMP is a great free alternative.
