Where have the large explosions gone???

Hi all.

Im running SH4 v 1.5 + TMO 1.7 + RSRDC + OM and other skin mods.

The reason for my post is that ive noticed that I no longer get any one-shot-kills anymore! You know, a nice very large explosion followed by "she's going down".

I miss this, I like'd the fact that every now and then you would hit the "sweet spot" and a get an excellent explosion!!

Now its more a case of - keep pounding away until it sinks!!

I understand that the sim incorporates hit points and a ship sinking is determined by how many bulkheads or bulkhead zones are flooded are hit but I have pounded a large tanker which is full of fuel/oil with pretty much no effect!!!!

Shame.

I can deal with it but would like the randomness (is that a word)?? of the stock version sometimes!!!!

Any comments guys????

Did you give the TMO manual a thorough read? If it's anything like RFB the ships' sinkings were changed on purpose, to make them more realistic. Unless they were carrying ammunition, ships very rarely exploded, and depending on the cargo could take anywhere from a minute to several hours to sink. Also putting several torpedoes into the same hole won't do anything - you have to spread them out.

Anyway, that's the way RFB does it. TMO might be the same. I don't know for sure.

Sometimes i also want the game to be just a "game" whitout to much realism and one thing i change then is to replace the zones.cfg file whit the stock one.

Check in the MODS folder for backups and find the zones.cfgblablablabla files under Data folder.

Copy and place it on desktop and rename it to zones.cfg and then move it into the folder SH4/Data.

You might want to rename the file that allready is in the Data folder before you replace it so you can switch back if you like.

This is the easiest way.

The longer way is to "tweak" the file in the Data folder for your self.

Just open it whit notepad and change the values you find for ships and airplanes.

It looks like this:

[NEFlotMain]
Multiplier=1.0
Flotability=25.0
HitPoints=100
Destructible=No
Armor Level=-1
Critic Flotation=0.30
Critical=No
FloodingTime=180
CargoType=None
Crash Depth=32

The values you can reduce is the HP for less healingpoints. And/or the floodingtime. The ship/compartment cant take so much damage and will sink faster by that.
