Default FOTRS question

In the TBT view in my Narwhal I am unable to look past 90 degrees and 270 degrees. Is there another TBT view? If so, what's the command? I've tried everything I can think of.

Thanks.

I don't know about this mod, but this condition used to exist in RFB. The logic being that the TBT wouldn't be able to see past those bearings because of obstructions of the conning tower structure and such. It has since been changed to give a complete 360 FOV because in reality there was a rear mounted TBT for aft observations. From what I've read, FOTRS is based on TMO. I don't know how the TBT is represented in TMO.

I just looked and the restriction is in the library/cameras.dat file and it is -90 to 90. And since it is pointing at the bow (zero degrees) is would be 90 to 270. So if you prefer something else you can edit it in the cameras.dat.

I haven't looked at the other boats, but the one I did look at just uses the default UZO from library/cameras.dat. I think if you added an entry to a specific ship, it should override the default settings. But if you prefer for your own use to have it 360 degrees, you could change it in library/cameras.dat.

My new Gato has the same restrictions. This can't be right. How would you attack to the stern from the surface? In the game one can use the periscope to attack to the rear but that wouldn't have been good in RL. This needs to be fixed. I may give it a go as you described.

Nope, I can't do it--can't open Library/Cameras.dat. Above my abilities.

Do you have Silent3ditor? If you don't, get it from the sticky above. Then let me know.

I'll get back to you on that. Right now I'm dealing with corrupted save problem. I exited the game normally but when I tried to return I got the dreaded black screen with the 'Report this error to MS' message. I haven't yet had the time to try my other two saves. My experience tells me they will be corrupted too, which means that FOTRS is unstable on my system. No big problem--I was just giving that mod a look while waiting for the latest TMO.

Thanks.
