If this stuff has been answered elsewhere, which I imagine it has, I apologize, but I've done a bit of searching and have not been able to come up with what I'm looking for.
I'm running SH3, GWX 2.0 (which I love) w/OLC's targetting GUI mod (which I absolutely love). I'm running at mostly real (manual targeting, no "God's-eye view", etc.). I saw GWX 3.0 is out, incorporating some of OLC's mods, but not the targetting GUI from what I can tell. I'm some months (realtime - playing opportunities are limited) into a campaign (early '44, one mission into the Indian Ocean base transfer), so I've a fair time committment, but the new GWX mod intrigues me. My questions are: 1) Is the GWX 3.0 a noticable improvement over 2.0? I don't mind starting over, but if 3.0 is mostly a consolidation of patches, etc.... 2) If seen references to sonar info being reflected on the display maps, but I've not seen this in my version. Do I need an additional mod for this, or is it bundled in GWX? 3) Does OLC's GUI mod work with 3.0? 4) If so, what do I need to install? I'm kinda confused by OLCE, ubermod, etc., and am not at all clear on what it is I need to get it going in GWX 3.0. Plus, it seems the links I've come across for OLC's mods point to sites that seem to undergoing restructuring. 5) and finally, are there any other nifty mods that might be suggested? I don't really want to install every mod under the sun (there's SO many of them), but if there are a few that people have found nice, especially those concerned with targeting... I can usually find what I need w/o pestering anyone, but am having a bit of trouble this time. Y'all have have been most helpful in the past... TIA VdG |

gwx adds no new units to the game. i think it only adds something to do with the 16km environment.
personally, i would stay put until 4.0 (if thier is one) ![]() |

The link to the GWX 3 manual is here: http://files.filefront.com/Manual+V3.../fileinfo.html The list of changes in GWX 3.0 starts on page 622.

VonDorkGruber,
with the release of GWX 3.0 I have returned to the SH3-Community. I was looking for an alternative GUI as well and it isn't too easy to find out on your own which mods will fit with GWX 3.0. Anyway, I tried the OLC GUI 1.2.7 yesterday and it seems to work perfectly with GWX 3.0. I must admit I deleted it again nonetheless as the OLC pause screen doesn't allow me to take screenshots nor does it offer the possibility to plot courses etc. while paused. Other than that I experienced no problems or compatibility issues with that GUI. You may find it here: http://hosted.filefront.com/UberTorpedo Today I will try the Periscope TDC 1.2 and the U-Jagd 1.3.1 mods to see what fits best with my preferences, i.e. being able to pause and still using drawing tools on the map and making screenshots. Gute Jagd! hoover2701

Thanks for the repsonses.
So, like for GWX2.0, I only need to install the 127.7z mod (not the ubermod) to get the targeting GUI to work...right? and...do the sonar readings now get plotted on the map automagically? That would be slick... VdG |
