sh4 wont run with dx10

i am having major problems trying to get sh4 to run now. it use to worl fine on this pc but i believe it is when it went from dx9 to dx10 kileed it. if i try to run it the intro movie plays, then i see a black screen briefly with the cursor, then the cursor vanishes and he music starts and there is just the black screen and there is nothing you can do. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling, i have tried installing the dx9 from the cd and downloaded and installed it from Microsoft. i tried the feature that lets you go back in time and reinstall everything and that did not help/ i super wamt to run this game but am running out of ideas. i have vista 32 w a geforce 8800 . a couple gigs of ultrafast ram, plenty of hd space, core duo 6700. it use to work killer but like i say i think its something lacking in dx10 and i have run out of ideas how to get the sucker going. if you have vista 32 and dx10 and sh4 wolves is working for you, please tell me how . thanks

Ok, you have dx9 installed correct? Ok, now, go to your video card set up program. Reset it to the defaults. Go start the game. It should start and run fine. Once done, do back and set your video card back to the tweaks you like. Vista does not like to run the game if your card is set up beyond the defaults. Once it does run on the defaults for the vid card. All will be good.

I don't know if the original poster will read this, but here goes. I just upgraded to Vista Home Basic with DX 10, and I have sh4 running fine no problems. I did install the DX9 from the games CD's, don't know if that makes a difference. I am running 2.2g cpu, 4gig ram, 1gig nvidia 8500gt video card.
