Default Manual targeting MOD request

Hello everyone! I'm fairly new to this game (had it about a week now) and am really enjoying it. I am also new to the Sim scene so I like to have it on Easy settings. As such I like to have Manual targeting off, but i dont like how I can not use it to target manually at all. For example I'm not able to perform a sonar only attack. What I am hoping for is if somebody could make a mod, that allows me to toggle on/off manual targeting during a patrol. Even if someone could describe what file or files might need to be changed and describe how to do so, would be greatly appreciated.

I would also just like to say you folks are doing a tremendous job and to keep up the good work.

Thanks for listening.

One of the files that controls manual targeting is in the game folder, as follows:

C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Silent Hunter Wolves of the Pacific\Data\Cfg

It's called "GameplaySettings.cfg" ... if you want to change it, first make a backup copy.

You can edit the file with Notepad. The applicable portions should be fairly obvious ... but getting them to do what you want (assuming it's at all possible) might take a bit of experimentation.

Welcome to the forums ! As for your request, I seriously doubt this could be done (while in game) without reloading the game, in order to enable the config changes to take effect.

Why not take the plunge and learn manual targeting. You will find the game much more rewarding. You spoke of a sonar only attack. It's really not as hard as you might think. Find "Rockin Robbins" "Dick O'Kane Attack Method". He has a very easy to follow, easy to learn video tutorial on this tecnique. Once you have learned that kind of set up, it is very easy to use the sonar bearing, to replace the visual bearing. Give it try, there is a wealth of info in these forums to learn from. You'll be a pro before you know it!

The one you're looking to change is in My Documents/SH4/data...

Yep, it sure is. The only file I change from "My Documents" is the "main.cfg" file ... didn't realize SH4 had so many other files hidden there.

To add to that, if it's a savegame one needs to edit, the file is in: My Documents/SH4/data/cfg/SaveGames/somenumberhere/

And here's another location: My Documents\SH4\data\cfg\UPCInitial

Not sure what this GameplaySettings.cfg file is used for ... or what "UPC" stands for?
