help me cant get the game working

hi dont know if ive don the right thing by starting a new topic . but i need help badly im running a home bult quad core pc my basic specs r

intell quadcore q6600 2.4ghz x4
3.5 gig self cooled ram
220 gig sata hard drive
bfg nvidia 9600gt graphics card
gigga tec motherbord


the game was working fine with the u boat addon but i had to ree boot my pc back to start up specs. i down loaded all the up todate drivers ect.. and instaled them but it still wont work.


what happens is the intro (ubisoft start screen) plays and the intro film with the poem run fine. but then i just get a black screen. after what must be the load up time all i get is the menue sounds ond no picture. i have left it for a long time waiting for the picture to show but nothing.i have don this multiple times ive evn done a fresh install but nothing

ive opend the task manager and there is no cpu workload for the game please help as i love this game and want to play it again

Try a reinstall of the game, if this has no effect, then do a system restore to the day it was working.

tride the re install to no efect tride it multiple times over the last couple of days

cant do system restor because i had to reinstall vista again and ther is no resor point for it

Hmm i occured the same problem a few months ago.

I will think a bit.... uhm, removed every map / file of SH4 ?

Vista Is Your Problem, Before Install go to your Ubi SH4 Folder,Click Compatibility Files,
There Is Your Problem Delete all before Installing Again,Including compatibility Files,
Now Install The Game As Administrator,Plus Your 1.5 Add On Pack Run It Also As Administrator,Your Problem is solved.
To have any Game Running on Vista You Must Run It As Administrator,
This will Solve Compatibility Issues,

thanks for the advice ill give it a try. but i dont see how vista is my problem ass it worked fine b 4 the re install of vista. it worked fine b4 i did that

Run the Game as Administrator,You should be good to go.
Also Make Sure you have the latest DirectX For Vista.

ive installed the game and the addon but still no joy same problem ass b4 no load screen its black and no menu screen just the music. any other ideas

You might have buggered up Codec think it is called?

Hmm good tips you gave there for the installing on Vista, i have laptop with Vista, i will try to play SH4 on the laptop since my computer is trash

Are you sure you loaded the correct video driver ? You might try uninstalling the driver and use driver sweeper (a free download) to COMPLTELY remove the old left over driver info and then reinstall your driver. Just a guess, sounds like like you have tried everything else. I had some funky stuff going on with drivers before with the game when I first got it, trying different configurations and found I had to reinstall the driver AND the game to get it to work right again. Otherwise, my frame rates were stuck extremely low. Also, as said above, when uninstalling the game, you need to manually delete the SH4 folder. There is a thread on the proper way to uninstall SH4. AND as said above, make sure you run the game as administrator by right clicking the executible (icon) and selecting "run as administrator"

From what I remember that might be an NVidia problem, or an issue with video codecs.

Search the SH4 forum with "ffdshow", and you'll get plenty of threads on the same problem and some possible solutions

horrraaaa!!!!! ive just fixed it and it runs better than it did b4 the problem was the settings of my bfg nvidia 9600gt.



if any one has this problem then hear is the solution


install n hancer fron the link in the forum page Nvidia tweaks to SH3/SH4
and follow the instuctions for ur graphics card ie: nvidia or ati cards
and hay prestow it worked and the graphics ar better than b4

I will try what u tried, see if it works for me.

However, does it matter if i have a chipset 945 family ? because some games doesnt support this card.
