Default 25 cal. Deck Gun

Can anybody relate to me their experiences with this gun?

I was offered it, but was weary of it until I read what is on the internet regarding it.

Faster reloading, up to 20 rounds per minute were recorded. Or about one round every 5 seconds with an experienced crew.

Quote:
Though based on an existing gun, this version of the 5"/25-Caliber gun was specifically redesigned for submarine use. The entire gun was made of corrosion resistant steel, so that it could withstand repeated submersion in saltwater. This gun came into service in 1944, and was intended to replace all earlier guns on fleet submarines. This was the last deck gun used by American submarines. A well-trained crew could fire twenty rounds per minute, or one round every five seconds.

World War II in the Pacific presented a unique opportunity for submarine gun actions. While other navies were removing the deck guns from their submarines, the United States not only designed a new, heavier gun, but equipped several boats with two guns and a simple fire control system. This was a result of the severe attrition among Japanese escorts.

Some subs had both a fore deck gun, and an aft deck gun late in the war.

Is this an option?

Try again.

Yes the 5/25 was a great submarine gun in the wet mount version. The ROF is listed in stock SH IV as 1 round every 3 seconds or 20 rounds a minute.

You can get two guns late in the war if you have enough renown and you have the the Balao or Gato subs.

No, it's listed as 20 rounds per second or 3 per minute.

Well, I did decide to take a risk and upgraded to the 5/25.

However, I did get both fore and aft guns. But, I can man the fore gun, but haven't been able to figure out how to man the aft gun.

And I also noticed that the default setting for range is around 12,000 yards.

If I use the gun for merchants, whenever I use the "tab" to "zoom" in, the range is always set to around 12,000.

However, it could be that way by accident.

And I have noticed that it seems to fire a "little" faster, but so far, nothing to brag about.

And no AP rounds. Nothing but HE and AA rounds.

Try manning the gun yourself and before zooming maker sure the guns red crosshairs are in line with the horizon then zoom.

Why 5/25 has AA shells I dont know. The Sub mount elevates to 40 deg. and was meant for shipping not aircraft. Even though the original design was dual purpose.

I've had good times with the 5" gun..
I somehow fought off 2 destroyers with 2 of them...I dunno how my sub wouldn't sink...but later 2 more came back and trashed my immobile sub. but you might as well go for them.

I have to abrogate what I've written above. I forgot that I still use files I messed around with myself (replaced some data with that from other mods).
I thought I had removed them from my system but now I had to find out that they are still installed.

Big SORRY to LukeFF.
