Default Reporting contacts

Ran into a convoy:

8 merchies escorted by only TWO small escorts! Time to have a field day! Report the convoy and get this message: "escorts are considered priority, sink them first"

Crap - 3 fish go under the keel of the small escorts, even though I had the owest possible depth selection for my torps...

What a waste - forget about calling in these convoys for now on...

Strange usually the troop ships have more draft than the escorts. :hmm:

Still though... "There is nothing wrong with the torpedoes. Its you sailor and how you handle them".

The fact you 'missed' has nothing to do with reporting the contacts.

Frankly I usually 'forget' to make the report but when I do I get a little bit more renown.

Frustrating though - set the fish at less then 5 ft depth (as far as the wheel would go) and all went under the keel...

It is historically accurate that some torps would run lower in depth than what you would set it for? I guess the game follows this. I'm using TMO...

RL skippers wouldn't have reported anyway.

Yes, among other problems.

Let me guess..... were the escorts Sub Chasers? I too, am using TMO and have never been able to sink one with a torp, at least with my current install. Just as you say, they run under, even when using the lowest setting possible. As a result, I don't mess with them. I have managed to take them down with a stern mounted deck gun while moving away from them at flank speed, but it's hard to do without receiving any reciprocal damage to your own boat. Again, best to avoid them. Maybe someone else can say here if this is only a TMO issue.
