Default Mutiple install of SH4 on partitioned disk

Has anyone done this? I have my hard drive partitioned in to two sections. I have SH4 1.5 now on the main drive C: Could I install SH4 1.4 on the other drive - in this case J:? If I could, how would SH4 handle the saved games on drive J: with version 1.4? Would they be saved to drive C: or drive J:?

Hydra,

What you would have to do is install SH4 on a drive, then patch it to 1.4.
At this point you would want to copy the SH4 1.4 directory to another directory.
Then install the U-Boat/1.5 patch to the original SH4 directory.

You would also want to put a copy of MultiSH4 into each of your SH4 directories, run
it to set up your save file directories in your "My Documents".

Hope this helps.

JREX53,

Thanks for your response. I was hoping by installing SH4 in a new partition - instead of a new directory, I would not have to remove 1.5 and install SH4 again as you indicate. Can you have SH4 running on two different partitions without screwing up the registry file? Say ver 1.5 on a C: drive and ver 1.4 on the J: drive?

SH4 can only be installed once, that is why you have to create the new directory and copy the original contents over to the new directory.

You could put a copy of the directory on another partition and run it without any problems though.

So it's a security issue with the SH4 disk that only allows you to load it once on a machine? There is some kind of counter in the program?
