Default How big impact??

Does anyone have a opinion of how big impact i have in the pacific war with only one sub? Obviously its impossible to make a major difference...but how mutch?

i would belive if i got very lucky to sink to carriers it might have some impact to the later japanese actions.

It would be interresting to know some thoughts...in both gamplay and historic wise(if possible)

In the stock game you have no impact. It is a "tactical" game not a strategic one. Even if you sink 10 carriers in Dec 8 1941 ( ) the game will run its course up to the A bombs.

Historically, I can not recount any single submarine changing the course of the war. Collectively, yes, the submarine helped change the course of the war. However, it was the total collective of air, land and sea that won the war.

Perhaps it could be argued that the sinking of Shinano could have changed the course of the war. But, we will never know for sure. Only conjecture.

You, sir, are a meaningless drop in a limitless ocean of a tiny insignificant planet in a forth-rate solar system. Try not to celebrate too loudly...

I've sunk 4 carriers in my current career, within the time span oflate 41 to early 42 now im in mid 43. Needless to say I got my virtual medals and that is all that changed. Realistically, the Japs would have been fairly screwed all were Fleet Carriers. Then again this never happened so we could only speculate.

Doing statistics dosent always turn out to be correct....but i guess theres alot of ways to see it.

I am currently running TM 1.5, and it seems to me that the air traffic is unaffected, i dont know about the ship traffic.

i guess its pretty impossible to strangle Japan with attacking fuel supplies from the southern oil reserves that they depended on quite a bit. Only attacking tankers...

Why cant i call for support from other subs, rendevou and plan a attack together, 2 or 3 of us? I would love that

We have been asking for something like that since Silent Hunter 1

There is some 'support' units in the 1.5 Uboat addittion however I have never messed with it all that much.

Also I have reported contacts and got the message "Good find will direct other assets" so I trailed the contact(s) for a day or two just to see. Nothing happend

Aces of the Deep was the last sub-sim that I c an think of that had other subs attack when you would report a convoy and it's direction of travel.
