Default Ramming ships successfully?

A few things... The war ended for me. Started in May of '43, ended Nov of '45 with 17 missions. My last mission ended with 156 tons of sunken ships. Now I rot in port, So time to start over again.

'39 with IIA and I've noticed that there these teeth on the front bow of the U-Boat and a piece of metal with teeth and a guide wire to the conning tower. I'm out on patrol I used up all but one torp. Got a contact of a small merchant, shot my last torp. The torp was a goddamn dud. It didn't explode when it hit the bottom.

So I surfaced and went "Ahead flank" and tried to ram the damn thing.
Sadly to say I got my ass handed to me. *U-boat Destroyed after 2 ramming tries.*

So whats the point on having that if you can't use it to ram something?

It's not a battering ram, it's a wire cutter.

Those "teeth" you mention are net cutters... eye candy only due to the games engine
Not modable to cut nets at the moment i dont think..:hmm:

I have never understood why subs sustain damage when hitting a sub net... shouldn't they just get tangled in the net and that's it? or is the net made of some rock hard material against which you slam your boat?

In SHIII subnets cause minor damage each time you hit them. I'm not sure why they damage your hull integrity but they do. I agree they could damage your props, fins or your scope but how are they able to damage your hull?

Even if they were made from stainless steel the worst they could do to your hull is scrape the paint off!

If you come across that ship that just won't die, You know the one....... Given it a belly full of eels, a couple of tonne of lead from the deck gun and she just bobs up un down on the brink, but never quite sinks.......

Ram it.

Quite often does the trick, but keep an eye on your hull integrity.

I think small explosives were attached to the sub nets. That would explain the damage sub nets inflict.

Does anyone have any evidence that explosives were ever placed on subnets? first time I've heard of it. My main point is that the subnets are very poorly modelled in the game and the damage they inflict was probably a compromise to "simulate" the problems a sub would have when running into one and the damage it might cause to control surfaces or props. My main beef is that to my knowledge they could not have caused significant enough damage to hull integrity.

Well that explains alot... Because they way it was made in the game, It kind of look like it could ram something. LOL!

I only did it because I saw the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica.
They abandon ship of the Pegasus and set it to ahead flank to ram a Basestar.

SO I said What the hell; LETS RAM IT!
