Default Could seasonal sky textures be installed with SH3C?

A question to the developers of mods and SH3C:

The sky brightness at night seems to be uniform across seasons in SH3. For some seasons it is too bright. Would it be possible to make SH3 roll appropriate seasonal textures into the SH3 folder upon launching? Like, if it is june, use certain colour textures. If it is winter, use other colour texture.

I was thinking this could be a way to adjust the looks of the night sky - and possible the day sky as well - depending on what season your career is running in.

Of course this requires someone to actually make seasonal textures.

Hmm.. this should be possible with SH3 Commander's custom date files. I'm not entirely sure where the sky textures are kept though, but they should be replaceable.

We were kicking this around in a previous thread a while back, or at least something close to it - hoping to find a way to create some varied cloud types for some sky variety - see here:

http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...t=92200&page=2

Nothing seems to have come from it so far

I finally gave up trying to create any new cloud/sky textures myself, as I stink at computer art stuff, but I still think the idea has merit and shouldn't be that tough for someone who has some skill/capability in this texture creation/modification business. I hope someone will take up the challenge

If someone creates seasonal textures, SH3Cmdr can manage them appropriately.

All you'd need do is create SH3Cmdr\Date sub-folders for the first month of each season in each year, ie:

\Date\19400301\data\<spring textures>
\Date\19400601\data\<summer textures>
\Date\19400901\data\<autumn/fall textures>
\Date\19401201\data\<winter textures>
\Date\19410301\data\<spring textures>
\Date\19410601\data\<summer textures>
\Date\19410901\data\<autumn/fall textures>
\Date\19411201\data\<winter textures>
etc...

Default sky textures

This would be really cool. I tried to do some of this and ended up with a lot of black skies.
