Default Credit Card Needed for PayPal?

I thought the whole point was to NOT use a credit card. I wanted to buy Virtual Sailor, mainly for the subs like the Sturgeon and Dallas. I'm 13, I have a bank account, just not a card. I live in Canada, and VS only uses PayPal with USD, but I thought PayPal could convert. Anyways did I set up my account wrong?

PayPal will convert and pay in the money of the recipient (as far as I know). If you have a bank account you should be able to get a debit card which is virtually the same thing.

If I have to get a card to get the sim, I won't bother, that's just too much effort. I can't figure out why it wants my card number, I'm sure it said when I signed up that the whole point of it was so no debit card was needed.

That's true, in part.

You see, the credit card is not needed at the website you're buying from. They don't have to make their own secure CC buying interface, PayPal takes care of that.

So instead of having to register and put your details on the website, you do it once at PayPal and just click some buttons here and there.

I don't know what's the 13 year old slang in Canada, but by "too much effort" I take it you mean too expensive, right?

Because I just keep receiving offering calls and the damned cards on my mail-box from time to time. Doesn't get much more effortless than that. :rotfl:

Well, maybe PayPal will accept something else other than a credit-card, you'll have to ask or search their site.

Expense isn't at all the problem. Asking my parents to drive me down to the bank just to get me a debit card that I probably wouldn't have much use for other than this, really IS to much of a hassle. I don't think there are any other options available then what it had on the checkout.

Theres also the fact that most banks won't issue a debit card to a 13 year old..

They will with a parent. Which I believe under 18 you have to have a parent on any account anyway.
