Default NFL Football 2006-07 thread

So what's the forecast for this years football season?

Will Neal's "Raiders" win any games? (or will Moss stay out of trouble)
Will the Vikings win a superbowl?
Can the Steelers repeat? (..or I promise to where a helmut when I ride my bike)
Will Culpepper save the Dolphins. (..or "what flavor of gator-aid would you like Mr. Culpepper." Says Joey (over-rated) Harrington- Dolphins new waterboy.

The Lions...no, seriously, Joey is gone:rotfl: now he can drag the dolphins down.

Don't even mention the Cowboys

Fav-ray takes the packers to the bottom. (no survivors) (..or cheesehead logjam shuts down lake Michigan)

Are you daft? There is only one bloody world cup and the Americans shall never raise it. I mean the US was beaten by Ghana, a country so poor that FIFA had to pay for their uniforms. The US will never win so long as they aren't poor enough to have nothing better to do than play some footie.

As for American Football (the bastard son of the bastard son of the bastard son of football), well I'm a Canadian so I'm as in touch but I like the Giants for a good playoff run. At least through one round. Eli Manning got his feet wet last year and he should be more prepared to take his team forward. He's got too much ability and too many brilliant offensive assets to not have the potential to do a fair playoff appearance.

I don't though at this point that we can really judge any of the popular subjects just yet. Miami though did get itself kicked bad by the Steelers WITHOUT their #1 QB. I wanna see the bengals do something impressive. I also wonder what the Eagles can do without TO. Will they actually be better?

Now how about the forgotten football league? the CFL season is at it's mid point and there are some exiting teams playing. The Lions look unstoppable with Dickenson and Geroy Simon but we'll see if Dickie can stay healthy for the post season.

The Eskimos ended a dreadful losing skid tonight with some last minute heroics. Ricky Ray engineered a brilliant final drive to go ahead in the final minute. AJ Gass was brutal on D tonight. Their playoff life is on life support.

The Blue Bombers look like a good playoff contender if Milt Steagal can get healthy and productive like he was in the first half. Kevin Glenn is back and all he's missing is his #1 target.

Hamilton is finished. That Labour Day classic was a joke. I think they had 3 consecutive turnovers.

Damon Allen surpassed Warren Moon last week to become the all time passer in professional football. He still has what it takes to take his team to the championship. Think of him as Brett Farvre but with a good team. The Argos are still a threat. When Ricky Williams gets back from his injury we'll see if he can actually post some numbers that make sense with his name.

The Allhouettes have been sliding from their unbeatable start. Anthony Calvillo threw an uncharacteristic number of INTs last week. The East is looking like a 3 way fight for a championship game berth.

The Roughriders are a bit of an enigma. They look like they can murder one week and tank the next. Maybe they'll be the post season surprise this year, if kerry Joseh is up to it.

The Satmpeders were on a big winning streak but it was barely ended tonight by the Eskimos. They look like the big obstacle for BC this year. If the O-line can give Burress the time he can cut up any secondary, even BCs.

That's my analysis. I guarentee you any and all Americans reading don't know who any of these players are or where these teams play.

Those of us who are not fans of European-style football tolerated the World Cup discussion this year. Are those FIFA fans so insecure as to attack the NFL so aggressively?

To the point, I like Indianapolis to finally shake off the playoff curse this season. I think that Joseph Addai will prove to be an adequate, but not necessarily equal to Edgerin James, which does not really matter because Indy likes the pass.

I suspect that Seattle will continue the streak of the Superbowl loser hangover, and I expect them to go perhaps as low as 9-7 this year, as I do not like their defense. I actually think that San Francisco might win the NFC West this year, but I still haven't taken any of their players for my fantasy team. I'm crazy, not stupid.

As for the toughest division in football, the NFC East, I like Washington to win the division and be out in the first round, as they will be bruised and battered after playing two games each against Dallas, New York and Philadelphia.

To answer the question: Yes, my Philadelphia Eagles will be better than they were last year, and I think they may take a Wild Card spot. The addition of Donte Stallworth gives speed and depth to their aching WR corps, they finally have a credible RB by committee approach with Westbrook, Buckhalter and Mahe in the backfield, and their defensive line has finally been overhauled to compliment the consistantly high-performing secondary. If they were in any other division, I would take them further into the playoffs.

Go Chargers! (And if that fails) Go Broncos! (And if that fails) Screw everyone else!

PS: If Americans actually cared about a sport as boring and sissy as SOCCER, we might do better.

The CFL owns all you American noobs. Besides without Canada football never would have been introduced to the US. That's why american football is the bastard son of canadian football wich is the bastard son of rugby which is the bastard son of the real football (soccer).

I also hate the NFL because they aren't gonna let Damon Allen into the Pro Football hall of fame just cause he played his career in the CFL. That of course makes no sense cause Warren Moon played most of his career in the CFL before he went to the NFL and he was let in. Damon Allen now has beaten Moon for the all time passer mark.

And everyone knows CFL rules are better than NFL. They call Canadian football mutant but its really the NFL. the CFL still retains its rugby roots. You can even kick the ball through the uprights when you're running upfield for a field goal.

And just to appease the hardliners, should farvre have retired instead of staying for another year? It seems as if his team isn't gonna be ready to do anything special until he's too old to play.
