Default Iran's new fighter

This thread covers the launch of Iran's new fighter.It is remarkably similiar to the 1970s vintage F5 and probably costs a tiny fraction of something like a Typhoon or anything else!

You know, at least the Russians can put up a real threat, thus making propaganda out of their planes makes some sense. Propaganda for suicidal aircraft can only be meant to attract more suicidal volunteers.

This is just mockery. Speaking of Russians, Gen. Yury Andropov was right when he said that Muslims are nationalistic and jingoistic wasn't he? He certainly was when he said they liked the spirit of victims, because that's what the pilots flying these planes will be, victims of their own jingoism.

Why even pretend? Where are they hiding the Su-30s?

Iran has F-16's and whatnot as well. Alot of purchased equipment. I dont think this plane would be overly advanced though

I'm sure it'll fly real fast.

I bet it'll fly even faster when heading into the ground.

We shouldn't under estimate a potential enemy. Just look what happened on 9/11. Just two civilian planes took out several thousand people without any high tech missles or fancy shmamsy radars!

With enough fuel tanks I suppose it could reach Israel, but then it would have to go through this:

http://www.iaf.org.il/Templates/Airc...ntPageNumber=6

And this: http://www.iaf.org.il/Templates/Airc...ntPageNumber=5

And this: http://www.iaf.org.il/Templates/Airc...ntPageNumber=5

And this: http://www.iaf.org.il/Templates/Airc...ntPageNumber=5

And the fighters.

1 F-16 might not be able to destroy 50 Me-262 but it can outright kill up to 6 of them with missiles. Then it could either escape unscratched or engage with Guns, in this case it could still pick out a few 262s untill there were no more vulnerable planes or gaps in their "formation".

There would be a kamikaze use for this plane against Naval ships. Of course, if the Iranians have such strategies, perhaps, say, the Americans are also thinking of strategies to defeat kamikazes? Here's one: destroy all these planes on the ground with F-117s and B-2s on the first night of the campaign.

This reminds me of the AAA guns in Baghdad. There was this "military expert" warning about the 40mm Bofors and other guns because "pointed to the ground they could annihilate the American soldiers". He forgot the Air Force could destroy these guns. Is this the case here?

It's amazing to see Iran complain about us cutting them off civil aviation parts, yet they find a way to get materials and cast pieces to produce these aircrafts... It really shows what they really want.

I doubt, their faith does not allow inflatable dolls...

I just hate it when people under estimate their opponets. Sometimes the underdog really lays a spanking on the aggressor.

Look at Japan Vs America (1941-1945) for instance. Japan thought the same of herself and felt confident enough to take on America and win. One Japanese naval officer was quoted as saying "I think we may have awoken a sleeping giant" after the US quickly got its bearings and came back with a counter attack. The rest of the war Japan kept getting knocked back into the corner of the ring and never stood a chance.

Final Score

America 1
Japan 0 (For just getting stomped flat out)

Look at America Vs. Vietnam (1965-1975). America thought she was just gonna go in and wipe the floor with those small scrawney little asian people. America so boldly flex her might at the much weaker nation, yet it took 10 years for America to realize this b-tch wasn't going to back down.

Final Score

Vietnam = 1
America = 0 (for leaving the match)

Look at America VS. Iraq (1990-91). America once again coming to the aid of a foriegn land. This time to free Kuwait from Iraq. America made a mistake though and once again left a fight.

Final Score

Iraq = 1
America = 0 (for leaving the match)

Look at America Vs. Iraq #2 (2003-present). America once again cockey as ever and bent on the take over of Iraq this time because every Iraqi is a terrorist as well as every Arab. How will this one end? America once again thought she was just going to go in and wipe the floor with some third world country but has shown that it is once again locked in the middle of the ring with the (supposedly much weaker opponent) Each country is throwing a jab into each other but the Iraq nation is not showing any signs of weakness.

Final Score

Iraq = ?
America = ?

My prediction is that America will once again run from this match. They will soon realize that terrorism is NOT a nation and is an act or tatic used by some nations and that "act" or "tactic" is never going to go away. It just another form of guerilla warfare employed by nations with much less financial means.

Wouldn't the Brits in the Revolutionary war call what American patriots did (terrorism)? Hiding in the bushes and firing at the Brits like cowards while the British Army was used to a more civilized fight on the battlefield. It was that ignorance of the Brits back then to A) Wear a bright red coat that made it easy for a sniper in the woods to see B) Not expect a weaker and financially poorer country to fight dirty.

A new fighter, that's nice. Stronger than the F-18, impressive. Now if only they had pilots with the gonads to take on our F-18s, I might worry.
