Hi all,
Yesterday I installed this addon ( U-Boat: Battle in the Mediterranean ). I have been experiencing random pc crashes ever since. My pc would reboot by itself randomly during the game but *every* time I was playing SH3. I noticed that ..the pc would restart...my xp logo appeared and it would restart again...even 3 times in a row. I thought I had a virus. I ran 2 thru scans with my antivirus and I was clean. I even scanned my pc with online web scanners.nothing.No spyware either.. Any of you know how to go about this ? I have a p4, 2.66, 512 ddr ram and a fx5200 with the latest drivers. any help appreciated |

Hello,
Thanks a lot for your response.I was reading this addons thread and noticed many ppl complained about it.As a matter of fact Trendmicro online scanner did find a big brother pest but I thought I got it somewhere else. I am going to unistall it and trash it for good as soon as I am done writing this post.I really can't thank you enough for telling me. Do you know of any addon like this worth downloading ? Or anything that could improve my sh3 ? Thanks a bunch in advance ![]() P.s. If the author of this addon did steal other ppls mods he's a sorry f** ![]() |

Ye gawds..what sort of lunatics are these X1 people..? bad enough that they use other folks hard work...but to include malware/trojan/spyware in the product aswell is simply abusive

Over at simhq somebody talking for combat planes said they know nothing of trojans and they did not steal things just borrowed one model.
Btw, after I uninstalled the addon sh3 wouldnt work anymore and I had to re install the sim.Even reinstalling didnt help much as I was getting random restarts again and also some nfts.sys error (basically nfts.sys was causing some error). Any of u had nfts.sys errors ? I went to the official symantec site and did the security check. It found a maccess trojan.all other avs reported nothing. Not sure where I caught that. I installed the sim again and patched it to 1.4b and played for 10 mins.no crash yet. |

Probably not for using freeware mods for profit. Ubisoft has the copyright's and decides what to do with it. They seem to have given XI permission to do what they want, although there was some discussion during the Seawolves farce that they could check their policies. Well, nothing happened so it looks like we can't do much about it, except inform retailers of the true nature of these 'add-ons'. Seemed to work quite well with Seawolves, several large outlets declining from offering it but I doubt people here will want to go through that ordeal again.
Only way to get them in real trouble is if it can be proved that the add-on and it's extra gifts damaged your computer. They'd have to compensate, their credibilty would take a quite a blow but in the end, they probably just fix the problem, say how sorry they are and continue their merry piracy. Money talks, BS walks. |
