Finished 1st Patrol, Have Personnel Decisions
Firstly, I want to mention I was a bit of an idiot when I went on my first patrol. I didn't realize my boat's complement wasn't up to full muster, so I didn't recruit to fill out the ranks. Also, I didn't dismiss any of my four "default" officers, so I have three guys w/the helm qualification. Is that too many? I might have wanted another guy w/something else.
Anyway, I finally finished the aforementioned 1st patrol, and I have the following things to dispense: 4 Iron Crosses 2nd Class 4 Promotions (I think I'll combine these two clusters to promote all of my officers) 19 U-Boat Front Clasps 5 U-Boat War Badges I looked up what the Front Clasp does on the wiki community manual. I think there may be some confusion, there, and the War Badge is actually the Front Clasp. Anyway, I guess I'll give four out of five of the War Badges to the officers and spread the rest among the warrant officers and sailors (in that order) I think I'll give my one qualification either to my Watch Officer (Flak) or give it to a Warrant Officer (Radioman), though I'm not sure which will give me the best return. Does the Radioman qualification just cover the radio/radar station, or sonar as well (I'd think just the one, given the name)? I also need to recruit an officer. I'm going to get a bargain basement guy w/one qualification. I was thinking either Machinist or Torpedoman. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated!!! ![]()

Congratulations on the successful completion of your first patrol !
What sub are you using? I suppose you started in 1939, am I right ? For Type VII, full officer (doh!), full petty officers and 21 sailors is ideal. For Type IX, All officers and petty officers plus 22 sailors is ideal, but you must sail with minimum 24 sailors. Try these: http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/t...3/m/2801085833 http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...qualifications http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...qualifications http://www.subsim.com/radioroom/show...qualifications http://www.subsim.com/phpBB/viewtopi...hlight=#467205 There's more... have a look around.
