I have a real hard time taking that site seriously,when there are so many conflicts between his data and the official USN data.

I think I'd rather believe the official data. :p

notice that ALL events are accounted for ... including damaged ships and claimed
i believe they are exagerated but im not familiar with the official numbers

According to JANAC accounting, the top ten boats in terms of tonnage sunk.

1. Flasher 100,231 (Whitaker, Grider)
2. Rasher 99,901 (Hutchinson, Laughon, Munson)
3. Barb 96,628 (Waterman, Fluckey)

Best war Patrol by tonnage sunk, was Archerfish (on 5th patrol) skippered by Joseph F. Enright 59,000tons. He sunk Shinano the sister ship to Yamato and Musashi. Which was converted to an aircraft carrier. She was the worlds largest ship at that time.
