Default She sails again

Did a short trip in the baltic in heavy weather with my good old friend jahre viking (knock nevis), sailing took just 11 hours going from denmark to norway again heavy seas.

Leaving a unknown danish port we hit rough weather some 25 miles out to sea, to make a quick crossing and also a safe one i stayed well clear of any land, however coming close to the norwiegen cost line we spotted a bulk carrier, to those who know it takes around 17 miles to stop this ship and 11 to 13 miles to turn her 360 degrees, thankfully she was going the same way but she was slow very slow !

We past by and some time later she dissapeared out of sight (not sunk!) shortly after that the weather improved we had enterd the mouth of the fjord, we approached horten the destination and with the aid of two tugs turned the ship to the bearing or 155 and backed her in slowly to the dock.

as you can see it is not built for the jahre at all lol it sticks out a mile (well not quite), but thats when it ended no accidents to report no sinking no nothing a plesent voyage.

For those who dont know jahre viking (now knock nevis) is the worlds largest ship, she is 1,503 feet long 69 meters wide and displaces 565,000 tonnes, she is so large she is banned from most european waters she cannot pass through the english channel nor the suez or panama canals there is only around 6 ports in the world who can take her massive bulk.

Jahre viking taking a heavy beating in the swells

Stern view of the jahre as she is sailing

Close up view of the tanker

The massive bow of the jahre viking plowing through the waves at 11.5 knots

Over taking a bulk carrier in the storm how i managed to do this i do not know ! the bulker was making just 4 knots !!!

Another view of the bulk carrier as we pass by and wave

Coming into horten port readying for docking she did it almost by herself with the aid of only two tugs !!!

Jahre viking sitting motionless in dock after almost 1 hour and a half of trying to get her there !

In my virtual AI crew we practice economy of words. I could hardly mean "schnitzel los!"
