The things I learned from Silent Hunter III!

I'd taken quite a few screenshots for this, and wanted to wait until I had them ready, but figured that I never might have them ready, so here goes.

THE THINGS I LEARNED FROM SILENT HUNTER III

• Chief engineers were typically very hygienic. If a valve burst above him, he could stand under it for hours instead of getting out of the way.
• Contrary to popular belief, fires were not a concern in either of the era's navies. Life-boats, life-rings, wood, flags, and even sailors were fire-proof.Not that they could hold a candle to the people in ports - they survived everything from flak shells to B-17-dropped bombs.
• Search-lights on ships are highly explosive.
• Even if a ship was listing, causing the gun crewmen to find themselves underwater, they did not abandon their posts. They just hung on to their guns and held their breath!
• Likewise, it was not uncommon for German submarines to dive - possibly very deep - with the watch crew still in the conning tower. Pressure-increase at great depths is a myth.
• Only the German navy possessed submarines.
• The BBC contributed electronics to the Kriegsmarine.
• The advanced hydrophones and radar of the era could see/listen through mountains.
• Teleportation was widely used in all navies. It was used to get from station to station in submarines, or to abandon sinking ships.
• If land stretches on for kilometres and there's no submarine to see it, does it still exist? Nope.
• Moon phases are a myth.
• Kriegsmarine u-boats had infinite supplies.

Ok I'll add some more
-U-boats were possibly considered holy by the Kriegsmarine ships,because they would not hesitate to beach themselves just to get out of the U-boat's way;
-When the crew-men died,they are instantly taken to heaven or hell;
-When a compartment filled up with water,everyone in the sub would immediatly perrish and the sub would be destroyed;
-Some towns enjoy water so much,they are build so that when tide comes in or there's a big storm,about half of the town is under-water;
-The navy fanfare was fed with "Uber-soldat" pills so that they could sing for days on end untill the U-boat came back in port.Either that or they used telephaty to tell when the U-boat would come back;
-About 99% of people in the U-boat roster had blonde hair and blue eyes ;
-Highly advanced tech allowed the Radio-operator to turn on the gramphone with his mind;
-On some small subs,the Hydrophone could not be manually turned by touching the wheel,but could be turned by touching the dial-display;
-In order to alert the Command-room crew of damage to another part of the ship,a very advanced sensor made a pipe explode in the command room whenever there was slight damage to another part of the sub;
-Lights were so powerfull that they could pass through almost everything;
-The crew on all other ships looks alike,no matter what country they are from;

Edit:Just remembered some more
-Elco's and other similar water-craft carried torpedoes just for show,since they were never used;
-Light machine-guns ,such as the ones mounted on torpedo-boats could potentially cause heavy flooding to a surfaced u-boat;
-Tug boats were again made just for show,they did not help subs that were out of fuel or other ships that were downed;
-very light AA guns on early u-boats could be used to completely destroy heavy cannons on BB's;
-If dc's were dropped on a submarine that was going at periscope depth ,they would pass straight through the submarine and cause no damage whatsoever;

Interesting observations

Allied boat captians are either very determined or hitting there tot of rum way to much cause the will charge into any land that stands between you and them without a thought.

The depth charge crews at the stern seem to be drunk as well cause the have a habit of blowing the end off their boat.

Crew manning cannons or machine guns have no mercy for those that would stand between them and you, they will happily blow each other up in a effort to get you.

Far too much booze being had by them brits

I lumped these two together just so I could ask the question: How do you know they keep singing? If there's no one to hear it, do they keep it up? (I know the answer is yes, but I had to ask).

In U-boats the captain could sleep for weeks on end, only waking up when an enemy was sighted.

While this was going on, sometimes the weather would never change.

Speaking of weather: It's always clear, calm and cloudless when a U-boat leaves port.

On a German U-boat, the radio operator will spend hours spinning the wheel of the rador scope even though your boat is equiped with the one the only sees 10 deg right or left.

The thing I learn(ed) from Silent Hunter is that you never get to old for computer games.

Oh ... and that its really fun to hit "c" if somebody else is playing.

On the flip side, my watch crew are blind as bats and cannot see a Large Cargo vessel beaming a spotlight on the conning tower from about 500 meters away.

- 60 years ago weather was much more prone to stay, storms lasts for weeks, or months. Thats why they lost stalingrad, snow all the way..lol. Luckily HAARP changed all this.

- The Boys from Brazil movie is true, clones are on the bridge

- Dunno about cocaine, but the Germans invented persistant watch crew, but due the drugs they dont see anything besides waves..

- Secrets are kept behind Uboat doors, who even the captain cant open..

- The Germans especially selected sonar men with bad ears for their duty.

- My radio man is turning a wheel what doesnt do anything.. I guess he is steering with us like my kids do in the car

- Music dont travel as sound underwater, its a fact.

- And last but not lest; the British were way beyond their time, they had xray vison, night equipped bino's, high grade radar and watchcrew with eye lasered vison, especially in stormy weather.
