Hi all, I am surprised by the silence on the new forum so I try to get some chat by launching this thread.... Let s see what happens.
OK, now to the topic, I stopped playing SH3 for a while after my last demise (disheartened by the ease with which an escort located and depthcharged me at maximum depth in 1940....) but last week I installed IUb 1.03 and began a new campaign. Strangely I got the impression that I was playing old vanilla SH3 (starting from Wilhelmshavn there was no traffic and I didnt notice significant changes in icons plus the splash screen was the old one while previously I had Rub1.43). How can I know IUB is installed for sure ? (I installed with JGSMe after removing RUB and various other mods). Further is RUB1.45 installed at the same time ? (I have a doubt). Thanks for the clarifications. |

Thanks Donut,
however I did not quite undestand your message, IBU 1.03 is still Beta ? and there was a change in the development team ? My crew seems unable to see something beyond 3000 metres in clear weather (OK they are raw in 1939) but I was able to detect smoke trying to follow a map contact which led to a hydrophone contact. Again is RUB 1.45 installed by the exe when IUB1.03 is installed ? (the documentation is ambiguous about this point). Thanks for the information. |

First there was RUb. Then sometime later oRGy released the first IUB which was fundamentally RUb 1.44 but with some tweaks and more "eye candy" bits and pieces. oRGy then left the scene after a minor update or two. Along came JonZ who kept the legacy going by releasing an updated IUB (1.03) incorporating RUb 1.45. JonZ has now disappeared, effectively meaning that IUB is no longer supported. FWIW, and I'm sure I'll attract criticism here, I don't see the point of IUB any more. I think it's been overtaken by both The Grey Wolves and NYGM, especially as they continue to be supported whilst IUB does not. Personally, I run stock Grey Wolves with some RUb tweaks introduced via SH3Cmdr - I couldn't be happier. And yeah, IUB has never dropped the beta tag. Last edited by JScones; 06-03-06 at 03:11 AM. |

I'm not very familiar with IUB, but there have been several posts stating that it includes some version of RUb.
So, to answer your question of whether RUb (and by implication IUb) is installed, just look at the map. Vanilla SH3 has very few ports or cities, RUb has many. For example, is "Lowestoft" present (originally spelled wrongly with a final 'e') on the east coast of the UK? If so, and without the final 'e', you have RUb 1.44 or RUb 1.45 installed and, presumably, all of IUb too. If the final 'e' is still present, you have an earlier version of RUb, and thus presumably an earlier version of IUb. Stiebler. |

Oh, I just remembered there was a problem with installing IUB1.03 via JSGME because by default the IUB installer included an extra folder layer. You may like to ensure that the mod path is:
\SilentHunterIII\MODS\IuBv103\data\ and NOT \SilentHunterIII\MODS\IuBv103\Improved U-Boatv103\data\ Just found this thread on the subject which outlines the steps to take to fix. Last edited by JScones; 06-03-06 at 03:27 AM. |

JCWolfe and JonZ had a bit of a dustup and neither is apparently still active. As a result their mods and not supported at this time.

Thanks for your precious help with IUB 1.03,
yes indeed I had a folder problem which disturbed the JGSME install. Everything is much clearer now. I noticed that there are more uptodate patches. I was interested in IUB as it seems to incorporate good convoys and oob plus 16 km visibility, maybe there are better things out there. |

Your options as far as "supermods" go are prolly limited to NYGM Tonnage War and The Grey Wolves.
If you're not fussed on uber realism, go The Grey Wolves. Whilst I haven't tried NYGM, I suspect that The Grey Wolves would be more closer aligned to IUB. However, if uber realism is what you want, give NYGM TW a try. |

IuB103 is the best mod for reality fans.
It brings it near to the point what u want to play. Some graphic updates i have done from GW or LVSH3. Also sound, cameras and so on u can update simple form other mods.:hmm: If you want i send u an MOD folder with further add´s for IuB103. For me, IuB103 works at best. No kidding sound, no kidding graphic. No failure in harbour traffic, no other **** who drives u nuts. ![]() ![]() ![]() Only an bigger update would be fine!! ![]() have fun,....... sink them all,..... ![]() Last edited by U-48; 06-06-06 at 08:38 AM. |

IUB.give Orgy's work valor.
@ U-48 Sir,
I have always liked IUB's Officer icon chain of command functions, better than any other Mods. Thus my support for it.Although,it seems a lot of community minded SubSimer's put a ton of effort in to what Gray Wolves Wanted. Personally IMHO.it is a death wish.My game wants to win, fish food is inconvenient solution, not enjoyment. So much for the big mods. Your quote, "IuB103 is the best mod for reality fans.
