Default Harley vs ten wheels

I had a bizarre experience this early afternoon.

I just did a short inline-skate-tour between Münster and Ladbergen, that is a wide, flat road with low traffic (sunday) and very smooth asphalt surface, smooth as ice, almost. On such a surface, skating is maximum joy, if wind plays fair game.

suddenly a massive rumble behind me, growing louder and louder, and then to my left and right a longer column of Harley-Davidsons, around 20-25, surrounded me, and took me in their middle. Two crazy guys even drove off the road and on the grass, to the right. while some of them looked quite civil, others looked like the sterotyped rocker-from-the-books. but they were quite friendly and laughed, they were amused that me on ten little wheels (I use highspeed-skates instead of the usual 2x4 boots) could go so fast. They then applauded me into a freidnly duel, and measured the speed I was going with at maximum. Under their applaus I almost went up to 50 km/h, although not really hitting the mark. Well, at that speed you don't skate for longer than just a very short while, and I am no pro anyway. They left me behind and laughed and drove snakelines on the road.

Quite a strange encounter!

On my way back I passed a cafe, where another dozen Harleys was parked. Seems there has been a meeting in the area, somewhere.

If you think that was fast for a skater, consider this: some years ago a skater in the US, on uneven terrain, triggered a traffic radar. the cops did not believe their eyes, but he was measured with a speed greater than 70 miles per hour!!! (112 km/h). He obviously had some bad food for dinner and now was fleeing the place with that restaurant... :rotfl:

Never drove motorbike myself, but that sound surely sounds nice. Not really like a tank, but like a ... baby-tank, maybe

Good story but I'll take a Ducati 911 over inline skates or a Harley.

What about a real American Chopper?

When watching soccer, I always move to that program on Discovery Channel during the advertisements blocks.
