there is a mod that adds search lights...its called the leigh light mod...it has the searchlights added to merchants...as well as planes for at night...a link of t should be on the sticky...but, check the readme to make sure you have the leigh light mod with the merchant lights added....I will look for link and post it if I came across it....

Grey Wolves already has the merchant spotlights and Lehigh Lights implemented into the mod.So no need to add it.

As the guy who released that mod (based on great research by CB.. and Col7777) - I can tell you that you can and should shoot them out with the flak gun

I've actually taken them off most merchants now for my own game. I thought it was a little annoying and didn't quite work as the replacement for merchants shooting flares/starshells when hit.

yeah but, not everyone uses Grey Wolves...and I'm sure he isn't going to download 4 gb of stuff just so he can add merchant and leigh lights that can be installed from an 8kb file.

Here is the link for the mod:

Leigh Lights/Merchant Lights

mod by CCIP

*******
Includes: new .eqp files for 8 ships and 4 aircraft types.

*******
Features:

"Leigh Lights" for all large aircraft:
-Catalina
-Wellington
-Sunderland
-Liberator

(smaller aircraft could not carry such equipment, so they don't get anything )

Single spotlights for dry cargo ships:
-Coastal Merchant/Tramp Steamer
-Small Merchant
-C2/Medium Merchant
-C3/Large Merchant
-Liberty Cargo
-Victory Cargo

Spotlights for transport ships:
-Troop Ship (1 spotlight)
-Passenger Liner (2 spotlights)

(Tankers probably don't want to attract any more attention to themselves than they should, so they get nothing )
(...and warships already have theirs, so...)
Yeah the shooting out bit...is an awesome feature...I have used it quite alot....adds so much more to the nighttime attacks....
