goofin about w show truth on
k so i hit an enemy sub with a starfish torp. i understand that a sub can survive a torp hit and that with starfish warhead this very possible. fine however sub shows 70% damage and points straight down while twisting around in 3d view. after a couple of minutes it near instantly rights itself and voila ! resumes course at 14 kts . shouldnt this sub have sunk due to the angle ? flooding + gravity ? if no - please tell me how to right my sub if ever in such a bind. maybe i should not take ' show truth ' so literally :P |

Personally, I'm happy that loss of control is modeled after taking a hit. I experienced some of that myself after taking a depth charge hit in Bill's "Time on Target" and was pleasantly surprised when I had to make some adjustments to keep from smacking the bottom.
DW does not model flooding effects.

ah no flooding either huh ?
in concept the loss of control is cool. im just not sure going from 14 kts forward, to hanging straight down and spinning in place like a drill bit, to popping back to strait and level at 14 kts, is within the laws of physics. ive seen it happen a couple times now. i guess its "normal" is an entertaining sight at the least ![]() |

Spear fish is a heavy wieght torpedo and any hunter killer Akula seawolf or a traffie would be sunk by this torpedo.
Big bulky submarine's like the Oscars and typhoons will probably take 2 hits before they belly out. Your sub should have sun (ive been hit with spearfish and sunk)

I've had subs that surface after being sunk. Had a Ming or Foxtrot that surfaced with a +90o angle in about 200ft of water it sunk 10 ft and the stern hit the bottom.
