Hello everyone.
I noticed that when when coming up from a deep dive (1.03 Official) the Sub points Down at some point while coimg up, A guy told me yesterday that his Towed Array was cut on an Akula while his sub was pointed downward and heading for the top. I tried this today started a deep dive at 15, than 25, than 35 knots down to 2064 foot. The sub looked like it was going to point straight down near the end of the dive but it leveled off than it was OK. It went down pretty smooth except around 1600 when it suddenly started to point down. Than coming up near 600ft it started to point downward, but it did not cut the Towed Array. Is this normal ![]() Newt |

Maybe if you are very slow (5kts) or stationary and order depth decrease, sub pointing stern-up and surfacing can become moving backwards for a moment ? Sure with high speed there is no problem, have to check what if was slow or stationary...
OK I see, when surfacing stationary, sub may become moving little backwards and cut the towed array. |

So this means my theory about the thrust causing the high rear angle on the aft is incorrect... the subs are really just not balanced when surfacing without speed. :hmm:
This may or may not be correct... but I'm sure the maneovering crew should be doing a better job of compensating.

They don't give the DOW and COW all that training for nothing. The COW controls ballast while the DOW sits behind the helmsman and planesman to make sure they have the correct bubble.
