Default Dipping sonar Mod (helicopters)

Hi all and BTW Happy New Year!!

Just womdering if any surface sailor (Furia...) in DW, tried extensively this Mod?

I want to know if there is any conflict created with that Mod and the operation of our own helicopters.

Thank you

MAu

There is only one thing I am aware of the mod does to the FFG/Helo interaction that is unintentional is the assignment of the MK54 to the AI helo prevents the torpedo from being dropped on a waypoint from the ASTAC station.

The MK50's can still be dropped both from the Nav Map and the ASTAC station on a waypoint, but the Mk54 can only be dropped on the Nav Map using the right click menu. If you wish to drop on a point a bit away from the actual contact, you can order it to drop on a "dummy contact" that you add manually to the Nav Map.

The reason this happens is that the interface doesn't totally like the fact that the Mk46 has been replaced with the Mk54, but it still allows it.

Thanks LuftWolf,

But just want to make sure we are talking about the Mod (small one found at SubGuru's site), and not your great Mod.

Oh, I have heard that the HeloDipping doctrine can sometimes interfer with the ability of the player to take control of the helo after he has had it on player control and then reverts it back to helo control.

However, if you keep it on player control from the beginning, then it shouldn't matter.

Although it's not a doctrine that I have looked at closely, I'm not all that familiar with it, but most people I know use it and I don't know anyone that has had a problem.

Hi, I discovered the way to fix the helo hover-freezing problem, just go to your weapons control station (F8 key) and select a submerged target on the scope and click 'engage'.

If you don't have a target there already just make a manual one on the map then do it that way. After that is done the helicopter should start heading towards the waypoint you gave it originally, or any waypoints you give it from then on.

As far as the dipping sonar, TLAM Strike mentioned to me that the FFG7 in game carries 2 LAMPS III helos which don't employ the dipping sonar (I.E. it's not the same helicopter as the user flyable one in the game). I'm not sure if this is accurate, at a quick glance FAS.org says that the LAMPSIII carried by the FFG7 has an AQS-18A dipping sonar. That's an older helicopter, the MH60R is even newer and it also has dipping sonar.

Having MAD data linked would be nice too.

I seem to remember that there was a version without the MAD sensor - and possibly also one without a dipping sonar, though I'm not too sure about that.

I *think* it is - as part of the datalink contact provided from the helicopter as an ai platform. (Meaning not only your helicopter would give a mad contact.)

SH-60B = Sonobouys and Mad <For Most Warships Inc FFG7
SH-60F = Dipping Sonar, No Radar, MAD or Buoys (Some sorces say only half the buoys). <For Carriers
MH-60R = Dipping Sonar, Sonoboys <Just entering Service IIRC
