Default 30th Flotilla Black Sea Missions 1-4 uploaded

Well I did it finally did it!

30th Flotilla Black Sea Missions 1-4:

Created to simulate somewhat the Black Sea 30th Flotilla patrols from 1942-44 by Type IIB U-Boats (U9, U18, U19, U20, U23, U24) hauled to Constanza overland to prowl for shipping that transversed the waters of the Black Sea.

To use these missions it was necessary to create the following ports inside the ...\data\terrain\locations.cfg file:

Odessa
Sevastopol
Novorossiysk

Batum
Rostov-on-Don (in the Sea Azov)
Feodosia

__________________________________________________ _____________
made two versions:

1 For those with just the default SH3 installation with patch 1.4b

2 For those with Rubini's Harbor Traffic mod 1.46

TECHNICAL:

I didn't mess with any of the Campaign files for these new ports, just the locations.cfg file. All the port info and scripted stuff is in the mission (.mis) files.

There are no Type IIB U-boats in SH3 and the Mission Editor does not allow flak guns on Type IIA's so I had to use Type IID's..

Rubini's Harbor Traffic mod 1.46 has Russian destroyers so I used them in this version. I used Armed Trawlers in the default version.

Input is welcome. Hope this work for you.

They need time to process etc... should be ready soon...

Very nice concept. You should notify Beery and Rubini about incorporating these new locations into their mods.

ew, thanks installed and started the HT version of the missions and played mission one last night.

1) First of all the escort and armed trawler (the briefing said a schnellboot but no matter) acted really strange...it went straight out then stopped. First time I figured just bypass it and I went on my merry way til *bang* "we're taking damage" death screen, yes a mine. Second try the escort carried on but was sunk itself...so out of desperation I opened the mission file in the editor and saw the minefield across it's path...and a subnet before that. I guess it got caught in the subnet and then got free but it does not show the correct path out.

2) Ran into a large convoy off the north coast of Turkey heading to Batum. A large convoy with 2 aremd trawlers as escorts. I think this is out of place as I doubt there were such huge convoys in the Black Sea...and no British T3s. Too bad we don't have some more Soviet ships...we got the Project 7 thanks to Sergbuto, would like a Maxim Gorky, Sevastopol, Tashkent.

joea,

Thanks for the feedback. Possibly I and Eweber will incorporate all the Black Sea Flotilla scenerio on the next HT release. But the scripted missions are all with Eweber, so let's wait his reply. :hmm:

Rubini.

Yes thats definitely off. There should be no ships larger than the Small Tanker in the Black Sea, and a larger variety in missions. These small boats attacked just about anything, railways, ports, trawlers, corvettes. But there were no targets larger than 5,000 tons, and nothing but the smallest convoys.
