Has anyone ever actually witnessed German warships/planes attacking vessels that you reported?

The only example of German AI (airplanes) doing this in a patrol was when I was positioning myself to attack a merchant vessel and suddenly my WO is telling me aircraft were spotted. I was well out of the range of any planes from England (it was 1939) so I gambled they where friendly and remained surfaced (later I found out if they are NME a/c the sim gives you options on how to react).

I watched as the Luftwaffe pilot proceeded to miss the vessel completely, sending it into a defensive pattern that screw up my attack.

I'm guessing you would have to track the vessel(s) for a period of time and send multiple reports. War year, time and place would probably factor into the equation as well.

Has anyone ever tried it?

I never send cantact reports till I'm out of torps. I don't want anyone taking my kills.....

BTW, how long did it take till the luftwaffe showed up?

I never did contact them.

I thought I mentioned that but I forgot, sorry for the confusion. I guess it was a random encounter. I suppose the German AI has air patrols as well?

I dont send contact reports either unless I'm out of torpedoes or I see a ship I cant catch.

Next time I play I'll stalk something for awhile and see who else shows up!

I have twice been robbed tonnage by the Luftwaffe.

Didn't report or anything..
