Default U-boat Conning Tower Emblems

Is there any way for me to choose from more than just one flottilla emblem besides Gunther Prien's "Bull of Scapa Flow" emblem?

Or do you only unlock more emblems as the war progresses?

On another note: Kapitan Martin Gelhaus and the crew of U-48 have just finished their first patrol, which lasted a total of 24 days with 4 enemy ships sunk. The crew became exhausted to the point where even when I put them to rest in their quarters.....it didn't make a difference

I didn't get ANY medals for my first patrol, but I handed out U-Boat war badges to most of the crew to congratulate them on a job well done.

Had alot of run-ins with enemy destroyers quite a bit, there was only one depth charge attack where I took damage and I was thinking "god, don't let U-48 die this early on her first patrol"

All in all, a good patrol. Looking forward to the next.

I'm not sure just what triggers getting to choose you're own emlem, but I played for a few patrols(3 or 4 i think), then I put in for a transfer to Flot 2 which was approved. After the transfer I was able to choose whatever emblem I wanted right then and there.

I'd say just do 4 or 5 patrols and then see if you can choose your own custom emblem.

P.S. Did you see my reply to you in another thread about how to get the Protractor back?

Just a thought on the emblem, what if you had your own emblem and renamed it to the one you got in the campaign, but rename/save/backup the original one, will it work?

I only play single missions so I can't test it myself.

Col7777,

Yes, I have downloaded custom made emblems and when I got to where I was able to choose whatever emblem I wanted...

1) I picked my leat favorite one, AdlerKopf.tga

2) Renamed it to AdlerKopf.tga.orig

3) Named the emblem I wanted to use to AdlerKopf.tga

That is what was explained in the Readme in one of the emblem packages I downloaded, uboot_emblems.zip by Kpt_Zig, 21st Flotilla Sturmgruppewulf, and it makes sense of course. However, I'm actually using a nice Shark emblem by Church from Church_Custom_Emblems_Vol_1.zip.

Cheers,

I think it has to do with renown. With little renown (say 2000-3000 ish total, like at the end of your first patrol) you can only paint your flotilla's emblem, and then at another mark (I'd say...5000 ? 6000 ?) you can choose whichever emblem you want from the emblems folder.

Makes sense to me that way anyway - on your first few patrol, you're the guest commander of a Kriegsmarine ship. After a year or two driving it, when you know every single bolt of it's hull, when she saved your life a bunch of times and you drove her succesfully between the lines of a well armed convoy...you gracefully consent to provide *your* ship for the needs of the Kriegsmarine

As long as you have a paint program like Paint shop Pro or Photoshop you can make your own emblem, ive made one or two, at the moment my VIIC has the Russian Hammer and Sickle emblem

You don't really need to rename any of the existing emblem files - I just made my own emblem, gave it its own name and pasted it into the same folder with the other (stock) emblems. Next time I got back to port to where I could choose an emblem, my new one (with its own name) was right there on the list with the others and it let me choose it just fine.

There are some parameters you need to design your picture to comply with to get it to have a transparent background and stuff - I can't remember offhand (been a long time since I made my emblem) but there were some threads around here a while back that explained the process.

It seems there isn't a 9th flotilla emblem....which is the infamous Das Boot "laughing swordfish" emblem.

is there a download for it?

I have that emblem in my folder with the others (it's called "lachen sawfish.tga") - I think it's a stock one as I don't remember going anywhere to get it, unless some mod loaded it without me realizing it.

If you don't have it, PM me with your e-mail and I'll send it to you.

[edit] I just checked and that file does not seem to be in the "flotillas" emblem folder - I suppose that you could paste a copy of the "lachen sawfish.tga" file into the flotillas emblem folder and rename it "9th flotilla.tga", and maybe it would become available from the in-game flotilla emblem list (if you want to get it before you have enough renown to get it off the personal emblem list).

I don't believe it!!!!

I've just started my 2nd patrol as U-48 and have departed from Kiel.....where do the BdU send me??? Grid AM24, which is where I was asked to patrol the last time. Hmmm, is that right? A U-boat being sent to the same place twice?

it's random, so coincidences like that are bound to happen.
