Default Salute to the "Sea Biatch"

Fühlungsmeldung 30/11/1939 1730
U-45. Position Pklanquadrat BF31
Konvoi gesichtet.
Ungefähre Geschwindigkeit 6 Knoten.
Ungefährer Kurs 257 Grad.

Since this report, almost 6 hours have passed.
The outgoing convoy must have set sail from Southend... 5 rows of of slow trade ships, the big ones in the middle - what a nice heap of targets!

Der Alte ordered "BEIDE MASCHINEN AK VORAUS!" after setting a parallel course which would bring us into a favourable attack position. Then the Anlauf began...When we finally dived, the escorts had been identified, two armed trawlers, one screening ahead and one covering the rear...looks easy...maybe too easy ?

Well too tell a long story the short(er) way...there was a third escort.

After having torpedoed two 10000 BRT tankers (middle row, both badly damaged, but still running) with two fish each and sinking a 2000 BRT trader (2nd row) with the Hecktorpedo, a destroyer (...which must previously have been sailing in the 5th row...) closes in on our boat very fast. They have clearly spotted us, PINGing away like there's no tomorrow. Der Alte orders both e-maschines to full speed to get down to 40m (...the channel is not much deeper here...) and to get below one of the damaged tankers. But the Wabos come down anyway, 10 DCs (or so) shaking our boat and causing some minor damage.

A fish set to 45 kn, a "wild-guess-lucky-shot" hits the destroyer 15 min later, soon after Rohr 3 had been reloaded...sinking her within 2 minutes...

Der Alte yells "AUSBLASEN! FERTIGMACHEN ZUM ÜBERWASSERANGRIFF!", and we surface in full speed, the conning tower is bathed in light by one of the armed trawlers which immediately opens fire. The deck gun is manned under fire and we score a lucky hit with the third shot, the trawler's main gun blasts apart, the enemy ship starts to burn fiercly and is quickly finished with some more AP shells. The already damaged and burning lead tanker gets some AP shells as well and goes down in a series of explosions when the 2nd trawler is near enough to enter the fight. 5 minutes later she goes down as well...our gun crew certainly earned some EK IIs today...

With no escorts left, we trash through the convoy just as we please, finishing offf the 2nd tanker, firing every avaiable grenade, (even the starshells), most of the 20mm Flak rounds and spending the rest of the torpedoes on the other british ships...sinking three C-2 and two small freighters, and crippling a third ship - the "Sea Biatch"...that was 2 hours ago...she's still afloat...somehow...

Der Alte thought one Torpedo was quite sufficient for this one, she was looking as if she was going down (and still is) so no 88mm shells were wasted on her. But she's still afloat...unbelievable...

Probably 10 crewmen and their captain are clinging to the wreck singing "Rule Britannia! Brittania rules the waves! Britons never-never-never will be slaves! ... ."
Der Alte just gave orders to ask them to come aboard, he wants to bring them to the british coast - I think they will show us the finger and refuse...

...what a weird evening...

Oh, I thought this was a Gangsta sea story with that heading.

Na, just a little story about a very tough little ship...

Maybe you can answer these questions ?

- How do I reload the two external reserve torpedoes ? My crew seems to refuse to do so ( Not running on silent mode, boat surfaced, speed 0 kn, both torpedo rooms manned...?).

- If I return to base now (... not having reached my patrol area, BF-17, yet ), will I miss much renown-points ?

1st question;
click and drag the torps into internal reserve chamber, the forward reserve can only in the front and the aft reserve in the aft. After that the crew will merrily load them for you.

2nd question;
I am not dead sure about reknown with patrol, but I think it is about 300 after you complete it

Thank you very much for answering my questions @ Damo1977!

I will sail on to BF-17 - now that my men are reloading the last two Torpedos...

I think you get ~500 renown for patrolling your grid, and about 100 more for sailing all the way home instead of teleporting.
