Default Targeting boxes on ship recognition manual.

Ive read about them and have seen screenshots but I do not have them in my game, or I do not know how to activate them. Im running on version 1.00 because I am unable to patch due to "<insert random file> is of unknown version" error which Ive read many people have. I haven't put much effort into getting it to work since ive had no problems with the base version. Im wondering if the targeting boxes were added in a patch, if so it might motivate me to figure out a way to get the patches installed.

http://www.subsim.com/subsim_files/p...ullvulnmod.zip is the mod you're looking for. It should work with all patch versions, but once you install it over the old images, the patch will most definitely not work.

Though I've never seen the targeting boxes, I've heard people say that if you are at ~90° AOB and within a few hundred meters of the ship, the boxes show up in the stock game.

Maybe they were referring to the mod mentioned above, but I'm not sure. :hmm:

Ya thats what im talking about. Im not sure whether those are part of the original game or part of a mod or some added feature from a patch.

When you say all patched version do you mean the US / EMEA (or whatever its caled) that have been upgraded to 1.4? Or do you mean it will work with any patch?

They are part of the game. Not a mod or added feature.

You need to be near 90 degrees AOB and I think it was within 1000meters for them to show up.

Are you sure about this? Are you sure they are part of version 1.0? I always attack 1000m away or less and always at 90 degrees and I have never seen these boxes. I think you might be wrong on this one. I dont understand why there would be a mod out there that does exactly whats in the game already. I might have certain realism settings turned on which prevent the boxes from coming up but even on the base settings the game first starts you off with I have never seen those boxes.

The mod however does work, even on 1.00. Thanks alot for that.

Yes, like the other posters wrote, they are in the game. I don't know, maybe it's due to a bug? :hmm:

They are in the game. You have to have the scope locked on to the target also.

I have no idea what y'all are talking about.... Targeting box? All I ever see is a triangle while viewing a ship.

If you look closely at the Periscope View screen example on page 16 of the game manual, you'll see dark gray rectangular sections on the bottom of the boat show there in the recognition manual.

It's been a long time since I've seen the boxes in-game. I also wondered why they did not seem to consistantly show up. Since then, I've upped my realism settings. I wonder whether one of them disables this feature completely. :hmm:

You only need to be a few meters (~800-500m), AOB ~80-100 with the ship locked in attack periscope view and obviously the Recognition Manual open in the correct page. When the boxes appears just click on the desire target and FIRE!

You don't need a high realism level (I see that with 40%).
