There's another one in the US making various subs & underwater habitats. Having their ultimate luxury boat the "Phoenix 1000" would be like living the life of captain Nemo

Extra 80M USD anyone?

Wow, I really like those you posted up, DJ. If I were a rich man, I'd be typing this from one of the two stateroom equipped subs as I speak. Living the life of Capt. Nemo would be a DREAM come true for me.

I almost laughed when, reading about the Phoenix 1000, I read the part about a 'mini-sub' dock. Can you imagine having not only your own personal sub that could dive to 1000ft, but also your own personal Mini-sub that could go to 2000ft?

The places you could go! The things you could see! Just imagine tripping out an unwary Akula in that thing! You could SEE it, but they would have to depend on instruments to detect you, and would be wondering what the heck you were...lol

Jeez, thanks for sharing those, guys, I'm sure I now know what I'll be dreaming of tonight.

Nope and in any case the thing is underpowered. 10 kt submerged. Hey even a Typ XXI could do 17 kt in the 40s. I would gladly pack the diver lock-out chamber with additional batteries and fit it with a more powerful motor. BTW they forgot to fit the torpedo tubes. However a maximum depth of 300m as well as a docked mini-sub capable to go to about 600m(!) is a nice touch and the price sounds reasonable considering what a 65m yacht (like mine) costs

I saw a TV show a few months ago about gadgets and such for rich people where they were interviewing an engineer or something from a company that built private luxury subs. He said one client requested and was given a laser aimed spear gun mounted to the exterior of his sub hull so he could pick out what fish he wanted for dinner and shoot it from the control room (and probably from his living room couch too I would guess!)

I showed the sub to my girlfriend, and she's as excited about it as me. We were both dreaming of what it'd be like to just live on one of them, living a mostly submerged (and hedonistic) life of ease.

Man, I ain't kidding, that would truly be the life. Wouldn't it?

I know it would be the life........Oh only to be soo rich!!! A few year back I was looking at sites about how people have built there own backyard type subs and there plans..........Than I read that a couple of people have died due to running into underwater debris and busting open......So I thought not for me.....Well the dream is still there but the money ain't.

There's always the lottery...with a heck of a lot of luck... Or for the less scrupulous, a few major bank heists... (Did I just say that outloud?? )

Maybe we should all start drilling for oil in our back yards...if any of us get lucky with that, maybe they'll offer to take us out for a spin at least.

Hmmmm... Lets see (kicking the ballast tanks) You say it was only used on weekends by a little old lady who never took it below 100 meters? I guess its worth a few bucks.
