Default question about RUb and (one only can hope) Starforce

heya there.

As you might know I'm stuck with v1.0 of SHIII because Starforce problems. Bassically there's no way that the DVD is recognized while in the DVD reader. I've tried to start the game thousands of times, I've tried making an image of the DVD with Alcohol 120, I've tried with Dtools,I've done everything I could imagine to no avail and no effect. Game won't start because Starforce doesn't let me do it.
So I'm stuck with v1.0 because there are no no-DVD cracks for other versions. And yes, my SHIII was legally purchased.

So, apart of asking if someone knows a solution to this problem, other than contacting Starforce "customer-attention" (lol, as if they have it) email, thing I did (for no answer at all) weeks ago...

I want to ask if RUb mod works with v1.0 of SHIII. Seems a wonderful mod and I would like to play SHIII with it...Somehow I know the answer, but why not ask...

It should not, I think. Mostly because it includes features that will only work with the updated code of the further patches, which will probably cause crashes on older versions. So I don't think there's much chance of it working on 1.0, since all RUb versions came out for patched SHIII only.

Not much, I'm afraid. There's no "legal" (or any other, for that matter) way around Starforce at the moment, so you either live with it or you don't.

I do, many good people in the community don't.

oh, I do it too. I love SH3, is a gem of a game. It just sucks to be stuck with an outdated version, not even able to try multiplayer, without many of the additions the patches brought with them (I'm really feeling it hard with the drawing tools...no angle calculator, etc) and running it on a warez crack when I own a legal copy of it.

**sigh** just let's hope someday they release a patch deleting the need for starforce with the game...

Hello,
i understand you, but the best thing would be to buy a DVD-ROM that works with SH3 - the read-onlys are really cheap now. I just had to do that
Greetings,

Yeah, I got a 5x ROM for $10 right after I bought SH3... no problems at all..

However, I DID disconnect my CD writer to be safe... Ive heard a lot of freaky things about STARFORCE....

Well, my DVD lector is a Pioneer DVD-106 . Considering that I am at home with this computer for only 3 months a year, and that the rest of it I'm out with my laptop (which has a SIS650 graphics card that won't run the graphics of SHIII), I honestly am taken aback of throwing yet another 20€ to buy a piece of hardware to replace something I already have working on perfect order (except for SHIII).

Said that 20€ may seem little money, but my current cash ammounts to less than 5 ,so...
