Default Crash Speed?

I was looking through the SH3 Inspector, and a came across this box. What does it affect exactly?

Hi Wolf52,

If you hit a foreign object, like another ship or a sea wall (maybe the ground too), your ship will "die" if the collision speed equals or exceeds this "CrashSpeed".

To the best of my knowledge, anyway.

Well, actually...

I've done my testing. It pretty much doesn't seem to translate into anything. I imagine this to be a rarely-used physics engine variable, because I have tried watching its' effects on collisions between sub and ship, or ship and dock - and no effects were observed either way.
(few hours of testing right there. It's not really worth it )

Ok then, it doesnt do much. I thought maybe it would help the problem with the docked destroyers burning in harbors. I saw five sunk in Loch Ewe last time i went there. The one destryer in the bigger berth was ok though, maybe that has something to do with it.
