Here's the situation:
It's December, 1038 and I'm on my third patrol (first in a Type VII). I've had a couple of run-ins with Brit destroyers and aircraft, but have escaped unharmed. I even have a couple of Brit cargo ships to my credit. In the Western Approaches, I torpedo an unescorted merchant... It's burning just a few hundred yards off my bow. I surface to finish it off with guns. My gun crew fire a couple of times (no hits!) and then stop shooting of their own accord. I get a message that there's not enough crew on deck. I check crew status -- there are three sailors on the gun, on the bridge there's only the Watch Officer. Everyone else seems to be in the bow compartment, taking a break. If I try to send anyone to the bridge, they just slide right back into the bow compartment. ![]() What gives with that? ![]() Unable to convince my gunners to return to their post, I am forced to use my last bow torpedo to sink the crippled merchant. If this is 'realism', then it's no wonder the Germans lost! Maybe I need a mod that lets me shoot one of the lazy sons-of-bitches? That should get them motivated... ![]() |

Weird. I've never had any problem operating guns with even a fatigued crew, but maybe they were TOO fatigued there or something.
I suppose it could be though. Not sure. You could think of it in a different way, like I would: think of it as a mechanical problem caused by too much wear on your gun from a long cruise ![]() |

Did you check if you was out of ammo? (just a blind shoot, coud be the reason)

Exactly the same thing has happened to me before, Bill. I am fairly sure it is not a prob with RUB as my gun crew, although tired, were certainly not too tired.

Actually...
I remember something about the DG. Sometimes they refuse to shoot unless I jump to the gun station myself and fire a shot manually or something. So it may well be related to that (potential) bug, too... |

It's not a bug, it's a problem with RUB's logic to kill your crew in the name of realism. The crew's efficiency gets so low that they can't perform their job, just like when an engine goes dead because their all too tired.
This is the one thing that's keeping me from installing RUB myself and it's a shame given the quality of the rest of that package. Fritz |

You must either be doing something wrong or using a non-RUb crew with RUb. That said, it's easy to replace RUb fatigue with default, or any other fatigue model. I can give instructions if you like. (don't know why you'd want to though. It's nearly a fact that the only people who don't like RUb fatigue are those who haven't really given it a thorough enough look - I know that as someone who thought the same until I gave it a chance). |

I use Rub 1.42 also, and the same thing happened to me also when I tried to finnish off a criple. My solution was to drag fresher crew to DG and then continue.
