SO, what is the consensus on RUB 1.42 and CTD's in 1.4b?

CTDs surely have nothing to do with 1.4b patch or RUB 1.42.
I did not have any more CTDs since patch 1.2, however i can't start SH3 now because the detection tool (don't you say Starf.. ooops) says the disk cannot be read

Guess UBI's reaction when i sent them a message ... right - none.
I'm currently de-installing all and hope my career will still be playable after all this ...

I've had about 5 crashes when loading a saved game with 1.4b and RUB 1.42. After some testing, I have no idea what the cause is. It seems rather random and just when I think I can reproduce it, it doesn't happen or happens when I wasn't expecting it. It's maddening because it seems to wipe out the save in the process of crashing.

I didn't spend enough time with 1.4b without RUB to know if the issue was there also. I've never had a single saved game crash like this before 1.4 or crash in general for that matter.

Right now I'm still sticking with RUB 1.42 though. The last 2 loadings of a saved game have worked and the only thing I did different was to drop the harbor traffic campaignSCR file from RUB and replace with the stock 1.4b file. I'm just grasping at straws and have no idea why or what that might have done or if it did anything to fix the issue.

And yes, I did not install RUB while out to sea. Crashes were all with careers started after patching and installing RUB.

Do you have any other mods installed besides 1.4b and RuB 1.42?

Also, do you have lock-ups that require a hard shut-down of the computer, or do you just get bumped back to the desktop?

No hard shut down. After choosing a save to load, I get the loading screen and soon after the initializing screen pops up. it kicks to desktop within a second or so of seeing the initializing screen.

In addition to RUB, I have the radiolite, ail's skymod, and some sound files like a new dive sequence that I have been using for months now. Oh, and a pin up girl

in the radio room and Bordinstrumente 0.9 hi-res dials.

I have RUB1.4b and SH31.4b patch . I also installed a different dive sequence and kept getting CTDs . I uninstalled the different dive file and now i havnt had any CTDs with just RUB1.4b and SH31.4b . Hope this helps someone .

Soundfiles is often a major cause of CTD's! I checked all my (modded) soundfiles and was making sure they all where properly converted to mono! After this the game has been very stabile!

If I get another crash, I'll remove the modded sounds and see if that helps. So far after 2 load attempts with the plain 1.4b campaignSCR file I haven't gotten a crash...crosses fingers.
